You really, really can't call this river.
I'm 3-betting far bigger on the flop as well. Really like your initial bet for 1.5 pot though.

Your HH makes my eyes bleed. No SB listed, wrong pot size on flop(it would really be at least $4 even if there was no SB, because the BB's $2 would be counted).

So really his flop bet is 3/4 pot, not 1.5 pot, but that isn't where the problem came, that was fine.

The 3Bet is where the bad play really comes in. I really like to see the 3B be about 3x their raise, so around $39.

When the river comes, what was your intention with the check? Were you planning on check/calling any raise or shove he made? You should be checking, hoping that he's just going to check behind, but I don't understand the call, you are losing to pretty much everything but a complete bluff(Your pair of 4's is counterfeited afterall...). Any pocket pair 66 and up has you beat, any 10 has you beat, and any Ace has you beat(I'd say this would normally be the most common in this situation). The call on the end was horrendous.

I liked everything except the river call. Getting counterfeited sucked obviously. Basically all you could beat was a busted club draw bluff on the river.

Thanks for all the input and for not holding back (absolute). A good kick in the balls definitely helps me remember where I went wrong.

Yea, really it was only meant for constructive criticism, except the part about the HH. I recommend you never use that HH convertor again, lol ;)

It's hard to tell how the action went on this hand. Assuming you were actually the BB and the SB didn't play, the pot still should have been bigger than $2. I like leading on the flop. You definitely want to raise more on the flop and bet more on the turn. I like the check on the river to induce a bluff, but I still don't think you can call on a board like that, even if that's the right play most of the time. If you think they paired the A on the turn, there's a chance a shove gets him to fold, but it's still not a better play then check/folding on such a horrible river card.

Don't post results in your initial post (as it'll tend to skew/sway some of the responses imo).

fold

I would have went all in on the turn. Don't milk it too much becuase two bottom pairs can easily go wrong. I think he called you on the turn becuase he thought you were on a draw didn't think you had the ace. Theres to much that beats you with that river card and should have been a easy fold.
