$1/$2 NL Texas Holdem at a Pokerhouse.

Last night I had KK, but I was beat by a hand with AQ.

What would you do if you had a pocket K and the guy next to your right raises $15 preflop? I called the $15 raise. Flop comes A - -, he raise again $25, I called. Turn card comes, he raise $30, I called. River card comes he raise $40, I called. We open our cards, he had AQ. He hit the Aces on the flop, which I felt he had the Ace all along, but for some reason it was hard me to fold.

Should i called and then reraise on preflop? If yes, how much should i raise so that he’ll fold his hand….. $25, $30? Keep in mind that this is at $1 / $2 NL table.

How would some of you play this hand from the beginning?

KK preflop - RERAISE!!!

You've got the 2nd best starting hand, you have to raise for value and to protect your hand. Pop it up to like $50.

Definitely reraise preflop. Also, I'm not too sure you should have called this all the way to the river. At times, in situations like that, it might be best to throw in a raise on his flop bet, even with the A on board. It might slow him down and save you some or, if he reraises, or bets again on the turn, you can safely assume he has an A and you're beat. I do that sometimes, not sure its the right thing but it works at times.

Preflop, I'd rarely flat call with KK.
Reraise preflop I would have raised him 4x his bet ($60)

KK pre-flop

Sorry, but the teory say if you reraise the guy in pre-flop, but a ace draw in flop, slowdown the bets, and if you give a litlle raise and the guy reraise you fold your hand because there have with 100% of certain a ace in hand.

yep.

but reraising is probably the best play. If he has a big ace. you are only getting money from him if he pairs his non-ace card. If he has a lower pair you are only getting more money from him if he flops a set or no overcards hit.

I would have raise big preflop, and try to force the guy out of the pot and make him believe you have AA or AK

Thank you for all your advice

i've been wining every night. i've been using the advice i got from everyone here. tonight i cashed outwith $200 in less then 2 hours. last i night i cashed out with $125 in less then 2 hours.i would came home with over $300 but i make a stupid call. i lost about $180 in one hand. no one would have called with the hand i had my oponent had a flush on a flop and i got my flush on the river with the Jack. like i said, anyone would have fold. i'll never make that call again that's for sure. cuz of every here, i 'm getting a lil better with my raise and preflop. again thank you all for your replies and the advice that you have given me.

in a cash game a re-raise is Definitely the right thing to do but i might just call in a tournament so as not to scare him out of the pot.

Re raise is the only option. you have the second best starting hand in hold em. even if your king's get cracked it was still the right move.

Big Raise Preflop!!! Make him decide... The tighter he is, the better your chances. When the flop comes, (assuming he didn't fold lol), I for one would put out a feeler bet, but, when he raises, (with the ace on board) You need to be willing to lay it down, unless you play loose and feel lucky...in which case, when can we get together to play! lol

What were stacks like, cuz reraise is definitely called for...but from experience...and if u been watching his play...u wont get an AX donkey off that hand preflop unless u push everything and its a lot...and u still wont get him off....and that A is comin every flop...every site...lol
