I don't see the strategy in buying in for the min buy in unless you are either playing outside your bankroll or you have no clue how to play poker!!! See screen shot below. How is this strategy?

what I've noticed is that when they raise a lot preflop they go all in on the flop all the time.
I guess thats all they can lose so they are very aggressive with it.
Also a lot of times when they double up they leave the table..
They are a pretty easy read if you think about it.

I cant never see buying in for the minimum.
doesnt make anysince if you have the bankroll, why buy in for the minimum.
but at them limits dont think that really many people take it to serious.
thats why i like to play lower limits because its pretty easy to make cash off most them dubs.

Shortstack in a cash game, although not my strategy of choice, can be a somewhat viable strategy if played 'correctly'. Most that I've seen in the micro limits who buy in for the minimum play extremely tight preflop, but since the ratio of stack size to blinds is so small, the small-stackers get pot committed much more easily, and therefore, as dweezel pointed out go all in after the flop regardless of flop texture, doing this both in the hopes of picking up blinds and also because theyre so pot-committed. (<---this is why I don't like this strategy) They wont often enter pots that they don't open themselves. Harrington talks about shortstack strategy in 'Harrington on Cash Games Vol 1' as well as other stack sizes in relation to blinds, and the relevant strategies that go along with them. Some of the more experienced higher-limit grinders can answer this better than me for sure.

There are of course exceptions, the people who only buy-in for the min because they want to play extremely loose with the minimum at risk. Theses guys are usually easily spotted, rarely making a standard raise PF and instead just shipping it all at once. Both styles of player often leave after a double-up as dweezel also said.

in that case you want to pick a better table with people with bigger stacks where you have a bigger edge and can make profit in my opinon :)

These guys were total donkeys!! I just used my stack to push them around, at a min risk to me because thier stack was so small. I ended up 8 bucks up and then I had to go to dinner.

You're right, they try to play lose while risking as little as possible. I don't see how this is a winning strategy or why you would want to play this way. However, to thouse of you that do this, keep it up. I enjoy taking your money two bucks at a time!!!

They probably don't do it very well but a good shortstack is pretty tough to exploit. You can't push them around because you have an effective shortstack against them as well. Good shortstackers will be 3-bet shoving a good amount of the time. Most likely though these guys just didn't want to buy in for full and were just really bad. No strategy, they just suck lol.

Yeah

it doesnt make much sense. If you end up at a table with somone who bought in with 10 bucks as you did then when the hand comes for you to "double up" then you will have more money to win. If you go against the same person with your buy in of 2.00 then your double up isnt as rewarding. So I dont see the point. It is kinda wierd...intersting post...never paid attention to these types of players before.
