1. Join cardschat (you're already 20% done, congratulations :D )
2. Find the hand analysis forums and start reading
3. Find the golden archives and start reading
4. Post hands in the hand analysis forums and ask questions
5. Try out ideas on the tables

No magic bullets - which five weapons are most useful to you depends on how much experience you have and what you already know about.

Welcome and see you at the tables!

Be confident yet satisfied with mediocrity!!!!

Dont let yourself get cocky after a big win or sulk after a big loss

Simply play YOUR style of winning poker!!

Theres single promising way to play, rather several!!!

I found these 5 smooth-stones by the brook....i wonder maybe there are some more smoother ones?....feel free to share our wisdom and build each other up maybe you will meet up at real wsop table and laugh...WISDOM=RICHES

#1 position...............raise out others junk-cards if your first,....

#2 strong hands.......increased calculated mathmatical strength.

#3 odds...................are in your favor?..keep and work them in your fvr.

#4 survive...............remain at tables to final table.

#5 watch.................players getting eliminated,and learn your oppnents.

It is only logic

I find the biggest secret might be the most little used. Everyone plays AA KK. But I like to sit back before the flop and see how many stay in. If a lot of action is in front of me I will stay with 35 off. I would figure that a lot of big cards are already in play.

as much as this will work sometimes on a really tight table, in general this is not a +EV move to be making all the time.

One general rule of thumb is to do the opposite of what the table is doing. If its loose, tighten up; if its tight, float a few calls.

1. forget about odds (they are rubbish)
2. play as much aggressive poker as you can.. if you need to go all in every hand then do so..
3. bankroll management ? are you serious? that's for losers.. If you deposit $50 on pokerstars then dont even bother playing penny tables.. join in 50/100 game and keep going all in... you`ll make so much more money then playing penny tables.
4. tilt.. they all say it is not good to be on one.. but tilt makes you act strange.. you start making unpredictable moves and this throws your opponents off.. i sometimes put myself on tilt on purpose...
5. position? what?? see. here is the trick.. everyone keeps saying position, position, position.. let them think this way.. you gonna be different.. Raise with any card from UTG and the closer to the button the tighter you should become.. so if you are on the button dont raise unless you have AA, KK or AK, sometime i raise with QQ also but i dont like to do that because obviously SB and BB are still behind you and they might be holding AA or KK an you will be drawing to 2 outs.
6.Books, articles, all those things are overrated.. why should you listen to all these guys? be unpredictable come out with your own strategy..
7. Well.. good luck mate.. maybe one day you`ll be as good as Jamie Gold the poker GOD himself....

sorry i couldn't resist..

In a tournament?.. patience and well-timed aggression.

I can't make a list of the key components that make for winning NLHE. Perhaps, 'the will to win' & 'the desire to learn' would be 'key'.

There are just so many components that go into one's game that to just suggest a few wouldn't be doing it justice.

If you're personally interested in playing winning poker, I'd STRONGLY suggest to get your hands on some good poker books that are relative to what you're playing (ie. if it's tournaments, pick up Harrington On Holdem series). Books are a great foundation to build from. Tons of ways to expand upon that and many are listed above.

Actually, you forgot the most important action for the style of play you suggest. NEVER EVER look at your hole cards. Too much info will just confuse you!

Play tight aggressive and play the speculative hands in position and make a good reading of the opponents, with strong hands be very aggressive to give discomfort to the opponents, good luck at the tables.
