Besides some MTTs I've been playing Bovada
Zone (basically Zoom) almost exclusively the past few months. You WILL have swings and WILL lose stacks to really strange plays.
I'm doing ok overall but to provide an example last night I had a long single Zone table session while playing an MTT and left a little over 3+ BI profit. Today log in, can't buy a bucket and down at least 2.5 BIs. Some were just folks calling terrible odds
and catching their flushes, some were my mistake getting outkicked on a tricky spot.
I agree with others that the skill level in general appears higher. I've found for me Zone has improved my skillsets and made me a better player. BUT for a lot of people it's a crapshoot and bingo to them.
That said, I think a tight aggressive strategy is what you want in this format, esp 6-max modes. Rarely bluff, bet hard to protect your hands from draws, don't call all-ins preflop without a massive hand (unless other player is really short otherwise fuller stacks are only shoving pre with QQ or better most case), play fit or fold on cheap flops to set mine. If you don't know where you're at in the hand and get checked to you but have a hand put out a bet to test (but if the board is drawing, bet nearly pot), if you get to river and have no idea where you stand just check it down, often you win against draws). If you choose to bluff steal the pot on river, I prefer to do so on smaller pots where there's been little action, never try to steal against 2 or more players.
Basically TAG and even with great execution you will lose multiple BIs in some sessions.
