Hey,

Here is how I played in a SNG yesterday. Please read it and tell me how or if you had played it same way.

I was in the BB and first hand delt I had Pocket AAs. five people called the big blind. I went all in with the AAs.

Won pot, but got some nasty comment about, lets get this guy. I did not indicate I had Pocket AAs.

A couple of hands later, I was on the BB and had A9 os. Three people called the BB and I checked.

FLop, I hit a Ace. So had a pair of aces with a 9 kicker. No over card higher than a 9.

So, I go all in, thinking I had the best hand, and hoping that some player would think I was a 'maniac' and call me with a marginal hand.

Well, I got called alright. Player had AK and called my all in. I lost to higher kicker.

I think I played well. But, don't we all.

Thanks,

angie

you did not play well by any means
i mean all in with AA on first hand with only 5bb to collect is not maximising ur profitablity, going all in was the worst play u could make
the best play would have rbeen raising it to something like 5 to 8 bb which would have gotten some ppl out the hand and u had a shot of winnning a bigger pot
the A9, i dont see why u are pushing, there is no reason,if u feel u had the best hand ur not maximising ur profit, does not matter how much of a maniac u were,u were only going to get called by someone who had u beat
if u raised and he reraised {probably would have seeing he had TPTK} u could get away from the hand without risking a huge portion of ur stack

u really played both hands horribly{ i know it sounds harsh but it is the truth}

agree with pantin. you played poorly and that's putting it nicely.

if everyone at the table was saying you're a maniac then you should tighten up, not loosen up. play the opposite of your table image for maximize profit

Wow, you played horriblely. I'll never understand why players sometimes go all in to win a small pot. When you had AA, stacks were probably 1500 and blinds 15/30 if you were playing on Full Tilt. Why in the heck would you go all in to win a tiny pot with the nuts preflop? You should raise to like 5 times the BB, not all in. The next hand when you had A9, you were supposed to lose chips there, but not your entire stack. If you have the best hand, the other players will fold to a pot sized or 3/4 pot sized bet just the same as they would to an all in bet, there's no reason to bet more than the pot. A smaller bet will accomplish the same thing. No one is going to risk all their chips to call your all in with a marginal hand, even if they think you might be bluffing, they're only going to call if they have you beat. You should have bet the pot with A9 on the flop, AK would probably raise, then you could call. Then check call the turn. Then check call the river, or check and he might check behind you. You'd still lose chips but at least not your entire stack.

One of the mistakes people that are learning make early on is to shove all their chips into the middle as soon as they have a strong hand. Like Pocket AA's all in pre flop. From the other peoples perspective one if two things happened. Your were dealt bullets or are someone who will shove with any two pretty high cards. When you shoved with A9 they were proven right that you will shove with just top pair and lost to a higher kicker. Don't lose sight of the fact that you lost to AK but just an A10 would have beaten your cards.

I would suggest to post some hand histories and let some of the real good and helpful players here spot some weaknesses in you game.

pushing all in out of position with a,9 on that flop = awful awful awful play. You said no other card was above a nine. That means you are beating by any ace with a kicker higher than a 9, and are beaten by 2 aces with lower kickers than you that have hit 2 pair. Your ace nine would have been better on a flop with an ace and 2 cards above a 9. Therfore you would still be beating all kickers lower than a 9

The A9 play was horrible as everyone else has stated.

I don't hate your play with AA on the 1st hand as much though. Yes, sometimes (as was the case here) everyone will just fold and you'll win very little, but many times early on someone will think you're stealing (because who goes all-in with AA) and look you up.

Generally, yeah, you're not getting much value shoving.

But, there are exceptions, and that's where you're playing a situation where you know it's likely you'll get called with weak hands even if you raise standard and bet out at the flop standard. Things like freerolls, play money situations, satellites like the 70 FPP ones at Stars, and often even the $1 sit and goes.

But if you do, then you can't complain when they get cracked by Q4o.

Try to think about the size of your bets and what will get you to win more money, and avoid pushing all in so much.
