I hope you get some good replies to the range part or your question,

I'm pretty sure you'll get replies about playing 1/2 with only a $300 bankroll.

I don't answer to optimal part, but if you are new to poker, good opening range would be something like: {99+, ATs+, KQs, AQo+}

And calling range {QQ-77, AJs+, KQs, QJs, JTs, AKo}

You better not to stop learning ranges to this answer though ;D

Well if you're gonna be rolling 1bi, I would tell you just value ranges. Live 1/2 is a donk fest. You're gonna want to make large 3bets with the top 5-8% of your range to isolate pots heads up. The top 20-25% of your range should be large bet sizes to reduce the number of players ib the pot.

With 1bi you are just gambling. You need to stay away from situations where equities are too close together to give yourself some variance reduction.

Best advice I can give, if you go play, play for value. Get as much money into the pot with your strong hands and hope RNGesus is with you.

I would not go play 1/3 with less than 2bi and an extra 100-150 for adding on.

I've often wondered how my ranges would change if I'm playing live as well. I feel like my tight aggressive strategy might not work as well since the hands come so slow, people can quickly pick up on what you're trying to do. Idk, I haven't played live much but I'd also be excited to try it. But for sure I'd bring like 3 buy ins for whatever stakes id go play. Don't just bring 1. You could easily lose a coin flip and not be able to play anymore

In live poker, the range of hands that you play is important. If you play only: {99+, ATs +, KQs, AQo +} - you can read - it's very easy. And you will lose to more experienced players.
Make the range wider - then you are less predictable

If you are playing correctly, your opening range will be different for each position.

Ideally you should have several buy-ins in your bankroll, not just one. Otherwise, one bad beat can put you out of business.
