This is somewhat of a bad beat, but I'm not sure I played it right either. I was playing a free roll tonight. So yea any free roll can be a donkfest.

The table loads up and everyone but myself and one other person is sitting out. I call the blind...$10 or $20 whatever. The other guy goes all-in and I fold my Q,9 suited.

The next seven hands I don't get any cards higher than a 9. The only other player sitting in, keeps going all-in every hand, stealing all the blinds from all the other players sitting out.

Then I get AQ diamonds. I'm small blind and he is BB. I raised the pot to $150. The other guy of course raises me all-in. I decided to call think he had nothing at all. He flips 8clubs and 10spades.

The flop is 4spades, 8spades, and 5heats. I'm hoping here for a Q or and Ace on the turn or river and get this guy out. The turn was a Jspades. Now I'm thinking don't you dare flush out.

The river is an Ace of spades. So I got my Ace but the spade suit flushed him the win. Did I play this wrong??? I mean he should have never called that hand right? But it was a free roll so guess it doesn't matter.

You did not play this wrong however. You just got suckout on.You were about a 81% favorite heading in preflop.Just take it and roll on to the next freeroll. To tell you the truth When I play cash games I get drawn out or suckout with AQ to a 10 2 it happens .Just don't let it faze you.

i play different in freerolls

because the play is different.you want to know if you played it correctly?lot of factors to look at...but lets just work on your conscience...in this case and many like it you only need to ask yourself two things...1st,did i have the best hand going in?yes you did.if you had AA,you were still going to lose that hand.2nd did i have an all in hand?did you?to me this is the answer that burns, too many variables to apply one hand to every situation..AQ is not a dog of a hand..but there are many better ones.you mull it over and i,ll leave you a question or two..1st..did you let his play or your anger at him factor in to your decision?2nd..if instead of chips...if you had to call with 100.00 of your own money would you?

Yea I think I did let my anger with him being the only other player sitting in as well as going all in every hand get to me. I called his all-in because I was partly upset but mostly because of the suited AQ.

Second...and you can tell me if this would be a good move. If I was sitting at a cash table and had to call $100.00 of my own money. AQ suited probly.
If I was at the same cash table and he was going all-in every time. I would just leave and find another table.

I had the same thing happen to me.
All I did was let the timer run as long as possible... he started bitch'n and I told him as long as you keep pushing I'm going to let it run.
He stopped pushing and I eventually took him out.

I play my share of freerolls and find my AK, AQ, and AJ's take a beating from the all-in maniacs. They have no skin in the game so IN they go. I've been more careful playing those hands in FreeRolls since that is the way they play the game -- I change my play to accomodate them by slow-playing and folding to the all-in. I hate it but I do better and don't get too irritated at them because they still present an opportunity to get their chips if circumstance of 4th Street and the River favor me otherwise I'm folded. I will definately fold AQ and AJ from the early position. None of this applies to my play in cash games.

Nah, you played with odds in your favor. That's the thing about poker. You need to shrug off beats like this and move on, cause it's bound to happen in the poker world. You played the hand correctly, cause the only hands that can beat an AQ are QQ, KK, AA, AK.

:D Nice, good thinking on your part.

One time it was just me at a freeroll, everyone else was sitting out. I was able to go from like 3g to 9g cause it was around mid way of tournament, so blinds were up there. It was just a points freeroll, def only reason why. I knocked someone out and person came in table, and we had fun battling for the blinds. Was cool and funny for me. Never got to finish tourney though, site froze and siad tourney was canceled...even weirder. Still got points for first though :)
