ok so last night i ran into this situation and wanted to get some feedback on what you guys(and girls) thought... villian here has been somewhat loose calling my raises with marginal hands when in position.. not a great player but somewhat seemed like he knew what he was doing

me BB with $175 AKs
villian CO with $100

villian raises to $7
button calls
I Reraise to $18
villian 4bets to $38
button folds
I shove...

Do you feel that after he 4bets i should fold?

If he's as loose as you say he is, he could be 4betting with 10s+ for all you know. Either way you're putting yourself in a flip situation. I personally would have folded after the 4bet, as hard as it may be to lay down AKs. What'd he end up having?

He had AA of course lol the worst possible hand I could've been facing.. i mean i guess being a cash game i shouldve just gotten rid of it and picked a better spot..

I like a Call or your shove here.Tough to read with no real history. A lot of lag or donkish players could do this with AQ, AJ, 88, etc. here.

Calling a 4 bet oop is horrible here. Without history I fold.

Oooh! That's a good one. I like that you didn't reveal how the hand turned out. It's easy the say you would have, should have done after we know the outcome. Of course the right play, might not yield the desired result.

I've said it before, I'm not a big fan of getting them all-in pre because there is always a risk even if you have the best hand. But given the situation you described, I can't say I wouldn't have shoved there. Of course I would have to be at the table and and get a feel for villian's play firsthand. I'm sure there were things (intangibles) that factored into you decision making. With a player showing a tendency to loose call my raises, I might suspect him of making a move to steal the blinds. The 4-bet could be indicative of him actually having a strong hand, but it's likely he just thinks that you're defending your blind and that a strong 4-bet will make you go away. I don't like to shove pre, but I don't like to play scared either. Sometimes you just have to put your man to the test. A-K is pretty good hand to have if you're going to do it. It's hard to say what I would have done. I think I may have shoved there too, based on his prior loose play.

I also think the shove was a good play, even though it turned out he had AA on that one occasion, I think he will do the same and overplay an ace with a weaker kicker enough times to make the shove profitable.

yea i never really had a thought of a call here because if i dont hit the flop im out of position and in a tough spot so i figure a shove will give me the chance to take the pot down PF if he is just trying to posture with some big A and if not most cases im in a flip..

even though he turned out to have pockets aces,i too would have shoved, knowing that he was playing a bit loose, specially preflop this way if he has a low kicker he cant fold, too bad this time he had aces but its a good call i believe
