play tight and play position [button SB & BB etc]
What is the best strategy to do playing in a MTT on a very aggressive table? I'm just waiting for good cards, but when ever I get say.. pocket 9's I'll raise and then I'll get put all in. It is very aggravating
Oooh I like that one :smile:dont go for the home run each time, fill the bases and pick up runs that way.
Pay attention to the hands people are playing - "aggressive" is only half the story. Are people playing loose-aggressive, or tight-aggressive.
If they're playing tight aggressive, then you've just gotta pick your spot. Get a good hand and shove the chips in there.
If they're playing loose aggressive, you can open your hand requirements up a bit. 99 might be a hand you could play back with, for example, if people are going hard with hands like K8s.
Sure sounds like a freeroll with the all-ins you're describing. That's not what I would call 'aggressive table'. Early hands, it's a 'free-for-all' table. Wait for a better hand (than even pocket 9's). Bet your hands when you get the chance. Even on the multi-way all-in tables, there are hands that will play without an all-in.
The early hands are what I call the DCH hands (Donkey Clearing House) and I avoid most of them. Even calling the all-in from bad position with pocket A's can get you an early ticket to the rail.
Pocket 9's are easily foldable to the all-inners. Patience, patience, patience. If those 9's ARE the best hand you ever see, you weren't destined to take that one down anyway. GL.
I have to disagree on playin pocket 9s here....alot of times freerollers are going all in with AK to AJ and maybe A10 early in these tournies....multi way all ins tell me that another tag might be flippen with any paired holecards......you have 99 and maybe 1 or two all ins with range of AK to AJ....two aces are used......with one tag flippin Pairs.....in my opinion I call or push 99.......pot is freakin huge...i think you would be an average skilled freeroller if you fold in this situation.
If you're going all-in before the flop, why does it make any difference what position you're playing? The early hands are what I call the DCH hands (Donkey Clearing House) and I avoid most of them. Even calling the all-in from bad position with pocket A's can get you an early ticket to the rail.
