I'm somewhat of a newbie. I've read somewhere that after playing a session, reviewing each hand by doing EV calculations is one way to do hand analysis. I've been learning slowly by watching videos, reading books, and just playing poker over the past year but I really want to engage myself and truly take my game to the next level. Right now I am working on being able to put my opponents on a range. That way I can actually do EV calculations to begin with right? cause you need that info to plug into the equity calculator to than figure out the "sklansky dollars". Am I on the right track?

Thanks :)

The way I review my play is to mark hands that made my mind go blank during the session and then I go back to them and try and figure out which weakness in my game caused me to struggle.

You might also want to record yourself playing from time to time and then review your entire session. This will help you spot some of the smaller auto-piloting mistakes you're maybe making without even noticing.

Reviewing your play doesn't have to just be a lot of number crunching, although, if that's what you enjoy, it certainly won't hurt.

Hey, thanks for for the feedback. Are there any recording software that you'd recommend?

I recommend Holdem Indicator. It costs 99$ or you can get it for free if u sign up at one of the supported poker sites. This program has a Hand Replayer function which allows to u review each of ur hands u played and where what went wrong (kinda like the pokerstars boomplayer). It also gives u a slight edge over ur other opponents and could help to improve ur game.

What are the pros with using holdem indicator instead of PT4 or HM2?

I already have PT4. By recording I thought he meant actually recording my computer screen in real time as I am playing poker.

I do mean recording your screen as you play.

I personally use Camtasia but it doesn't play back at double speed, so it can be quite time consuming.

A lot of the players I have worked with in the past have used this though https://obsproject.com/

Using tracker programs like Poker Tracker and Holdem Manager. And make a diary in the forum where u can share your hands and ask other players.
