i am looking for some advice on getting further/farther in n/l mtt's
i have been getting to just before the money/bubble or just into the money. i always seem to be short stacked, hanging on for my life while all these others are way above the average..it seems the cards go cold and i can go three to four rounds without getting anything to play and i get blinded away to nothing...if i try to steal the blinds i get caught...than wham-mo end of my tourney...then when something good comes, from the lack of the stack i get called and lose to q9, a5, 33 type of hands.. it gets frustrating playing for 3plus hours and getting nothing or double my buy in..
i'm open to anything anyone can offer..
thanks

Thanks for the advice. Just played a 400 points buy in at Titan with points left over from a long time ago. I found it Extremely easy to dominate in a 6player SNG. Won Entry into a 2000pts tourny where there is some cash available to the top 200.

What is the Best way to cash in these types of tourneys? Max Players is 2000.

try not to worry so much about cashing, but accumulating enough chips to be a threat to win the thing. once you get that far you'll find yourself cashing without even noticing it

Stay alive!

If the hand is worth seeing it is probably worth raising. Especially late. In large MTT's there is a stage mid to the start of the late stage, where things are cruising, and slow accumulation is going on by better players. Don't get confrontational without very good cards. Pick you spots, and then attack.

ill try and sum up in 3 steps:

1. dont look at players left when approaching the bubble, it will make you too tight.

2. Steal the blinds of shortstacks

3. Make sure during middle of tourny you move up a gear and raise with a wider range of hands to build chips ready for big payout. People tighten up during middle

There is much valid advice above. In addition, I found that my results improved when I built myself a schedule and began focusing on playing the same two or three daily MTTs on a regular basis, rather than flitting from site to site and game to game.

When you play the same tourney repeatedly, you develop a feel for the blind structure and for the rhythym of the game, which makes it easier to pick the correct moment to change gears. You also build up a body of notes on the other regulars.

I too have been playing the Titan free rolls regularly for about three weeks now and as with most MTT you do need some luck. But, playing a tight/aggressive style is the way to go.
Don't call an all-in if it means your tournament if you lose. If you get short-stacked, people will call and knock you out with the worst hands imaginable. Q3s against my JJ for examle.
I like the advice about being more aggressive in the middle stages as I too have had trouble getting to the final table, where the money is. Finally did it on Saturday but got knocked out on the above hand in 10th.

It seems like I constantly cash in tournies but never pull them down. Any advice as from making it from the money to the FT?

just dont play any different jr, play the way you do in every other hand leading through the money. If your style is good enough, you will final table

Study the other players at your table carefully. Many players are unused to going deep in tournies and get scared at this level. Bully and steal from those who seem timid.

Your chips are doubly valuable at this late stage, don`t waste them. Play aggressively. Don`t limp. Don`t call a raise unless you have a monster. Ideally, look to be first into the pot and raising. Put your opponents under stress.

Some good books on MTT can also be valuable to explain some key concepts to you. I've heard only good things about Kill Everyone (wich is the sister publication of Kill Phill but 100x times more serious/valuable) and Harrington's books are also good.
