So, I want to start playing more cash games. Specifically, I want to learn how to play and beat FLHE. I'm a huge fan of NLHE, but only in tournaments. When it comes to cash games, I find it a bit dull... FLHE has always interested me and I want to take a stab at it to see if I can profit from it.

Since I am fairly new to FLHE, I think I should start around at the lower stakes. So, I'm thinking that .05/.10 might be a good place to start. However, I read a good BRM for FL is about 300-500 BBs and I have 2K BBs for this limit. So, is it foolish for me to start at this level with so many BBs instead of moving up a level and learning there?

The next level they offer is .15/30, but I never see anyone on those tables, so I'll jump to .25/50, where I'll have 400 BBs. It is a bit of a large jump in stakes especially for a learning player, but I do have the BR for it. Also, I figure I that If I did start at this level, I could give myself a 100BB cushion and if my BR falls below that, I'll drop down to .05/.10.

So...2KBB BR for .05/.10 or a 400BB BR for .25/.50...where should I start?

Also, whats a good sample size for FLHE? 50K hands?

A problem you may encounter will be lack of traffic. My main game is FLHE and the only place I find enough traffic is pokerstars. Also, it may pay you to start at the $0.02/$0.04 until you show a winrate. Although you may be bankrolled for higher, it's a very different game from NLHE and strategies you rely on may simply not work. I'm kind of doing it the other way round at the moment after 2million hands of FLHE I'm learning $2NL and finding it bizarre that an easy raise in FLHE is a simple fold in $2NL. I don't know what your level of play for FLHE is but if you haven't got a thorough grounding in it you may find the regs targetting you if they work out you're a NLHE player moving to FLHE. If you're up for reading, then Lee Jones's book (the 3rd edition though) is probably the best. Hope this is some use to you.

I can never play fixed limit, because it is the game of luck and no one leaves a hand because they know they will not be all in. I guess it is a game that could be profitable at certain levels, but for me I can not do it... Good luck though

I've been playing FLHE for 3 years now and have a consistent win rate. I've heard a lot of people say it's involves more luck but in my opinion it just requires more thought. Granted, you get more post flop play but if you can play well after the flop you have a lot more people calling you down which can make it very profitable. It's the mindset that makes it such a different game to NLHE.

I always advocate playing the games you enjoy the most.

Just bear in mind though, there aren't as many people interested in FL (mostly because it's more stimulating watching paint dry) so you won't get a huge amount of feedback.

I think you should start at the lowest level possible. Bankrolls are for proven winners. New players have hobby budgets.

I would try .25/.50 and play pretty tight at first. Playing lower might not hold your attention, which would be worse than overestimating your ability.
