OK, so here's the deal .... I finally purchased tracking software and a HUD after 3 years of playing online .:banghead: (i got the HM2 small stake version that allows you to play only up to 50NL,not too bad for someone who wants to earn their way up limit by limit)

That said, i've decided to stop whining about how hard it is to beat 5 NL and just beat it.

I played like 500 hands tonight 4 tabling 6 max at 5NL and id say that the first session (USING A HUD) after a long time went very well.

Im going to be posting screenshots of my graph's daily no matter how shitty things might turn out to be.

MY initial bankroll was 25 dollars. That's 5 buy in's but im not worried cause im pretty sure i can beat the limit and that's all i got right now.

After today's session it's already at 52$
so im way more confident now that i have 10 buy in's.

I do realize that it is risky business playing THAT underolled but that's what i have online right now and i DO NOT want to deposit so i will make it grow from what it is.(including the higher risk of going BUSTO).

I will also be posting hands, thoughts and maybe even make a few 5NL vids and posting them as well with a little commentary from myself.

I'm mostly doing this because i want to keep myself motivated and try harder.

Lemmee begin posting a few screenshots and after that i will also be posting hands and updates.

My goal is to reach 10NL( 250 $ by the end of this month).

Wish me luck people.

Interesting hand to show how bad they are at this limit . villain is running 41/21/2.8 over 80 hands fold to cbet 67%(if im not mistaken)

On the flop i dont see any hand that he will be reraising so i automatically put him on a bluff.not even a draw. just a bad bluff. His turn bet sizing is super bluffy so i thought on the turn its best shove based on my read.. Dont know if thats spewy. comments?

day 1 5NL challenge looking good. This will be a results oriented thread because what im aiming for is good results. managed to put in 750 ish hands on day 1 by 4 tabling 6max. only played 3 hours or so. Gonna put in way more tomorrow so im definitely going to have a bigger sample size but in all honesty,im really going to CRUSH IT DOWN!:mad::mad::mad:

If you think someone is bluffing, why go all in ? He has to fold now. If you check call, you can let him bluff the river.

Gl in challenge, I'm on my own cash challenge at the moment to.

Against bluffy aggros, you gotta check or bet small the river so they can pull their favorite move.

Against passives, if they obviously have a busted flush draw they can be induced to shove it too but having an actual note is best.

Edit: Why is your BR so small after all this time? I mean I started from zero 6 months ago (and didn't play for around 2 of that), pretty much suck badly (losing money in 5NL!) and still have 460$ now (+ around 15$ in ring tickets and T$). If you hit a rough patch maybe go down to 2NL and build it up safely? With some volume it should be easy peasy. It sucks building up from zero from freerolls :(

My thought process was, lemme shove and make him call to catch one of his 2 overcards(yes i thought he was that bad). But i guess your right i should have flatted the turn and called river. The thing is i thought the pot was big enough for what i was holding and didnt really wanna se a river card, cause my min pair was vulnerable to being beat.

But you are probably right, i think i might have lost value by not letting him bluff the river. On a sidenote i think my turn overbet could have made him fold better hands.

p.s do u have a cash thread link?for your cash challenge?

My bankroll is so small because i havent really been playing lately. And mostly because ive been playing recreationally.(tournies and alil cash here and there underolled, redepositing and losing etc)

Im going to be playing ONLY 5NL cash this month and see where it goes. Its easy to build a bankroll playing small limits cash. The hard part is to not go above my limit and lose it quick but im not going to do that now that i have this thread started. So im pretty sure things will be looking up.

I think against this player who bluffs a ton, when he actually does finally have a hand, he certainly won't fold. He's one of those players who you should never bluff or turn your hand into a bluff against which will have a ton of SD value, simply put - value town him with your big hands and bluff catch all your hands. Also given that board texture, I doubt you will ever get this player to fold any hand, let alone a better hand than yours.

If you think he's that bad where he will call any two overcards, then's he's likely to shove a blank river as a bluff too. Also; I think the way I look at it; is if I'm quite sure someone is on a bluff and pretty sure my maximum value comes from his bluff this hand. I take a line where I say "ok; I'm sticking with this hand - I prepared to call ANY river he shoves, including all high cards that fall" I guess if you're fearful of an over card and think you might fold if he shoves an over card then ok; I guess your maximum value comes on the turn but try and get out of the trait of thinking "Sigh, an Ace or King hit the river, he's probs got it - I fold" Chances are, he hasn't, he's just a bad player, but also might recognise that a scare card might get you to fold your marginal hand. There's never anything better than finding an absolute awful player who's willing to stick his stack in the middle on bluffs, if you can find them...it feels good just to check call down and feel really confident your middle pair is best.

No worries; obviously though...this only works for the exact players you describe..

Don't just start bluff catching every hand, only vs the absolute worse players who are prone to bluffing when you feel you have the best hand, just don't fold to them and don't shove on them :)

GL vinyl, 5nl is very crushable you should be fine.

How are you going to stop yourself from playing higher limits? This has obv been a problem for you in the past. Have you got table restrictions on?

thanks Micro. Im just NOT going to allow myself to play anything higher than this untill my roll allows me to. Im going to impose self discipline on myself.
I dont have table restrictions on . The reason i made this thread was to make this challenge public and officially be able to say i can beat 5NL. It's not about the money, its about the result. The challenge alone will stop me from playing anything above my limits. If i make it to 250$(which im pretty sure i will),ill be making a 10NL thread trying to beat that too.

thnks for the GL :D

Hold up, surely that graph is upside down? Cos I thought 5NL was unbeatable... ;)

Ram is right btw, you turned your hand into a bluff rather than catching his.

Post a vid already, and don't go busto in the meantime!

25 buyins for 10NL seems way too small to me if you haven't beaten 5NL yet.

What if you get on a heater and "defeat" 5NL only to get on a downswing in 10NL and get destroyed? I had a few 10+ BI downswings in 5NL even though I am close to break even overall (win rate wise, not money wise). I am sitting on 80+ BI and can handle losing 10 but if you lose half of your roll it might tilt you :(

Basically, what I am saying is there is no rush.

You have 80 bi for 5nl and haven't moved up?! Whoa

25 Bi is plenty for 10nl. 20 is plenty even. You should just change when you'll move down based on that.

80 bi seems way too conservative though . . like what is another month at 5 NL going to teach you that 10 nl wont?

I am not moving up until I can convincingly defeat the previous level. Almost all of my BR comes from tournaments.

GL man.

And I agree with PE above. Take a shot at 10 nl. If you hit variance, you can move down.

ALL THE ABOVE AND MANY MANY MORE , have lead to the bb/100 rate to decrease significantly.

I'm still up around 25 dollars but have been going through a bit of turbulence during day 2 and day 3. Im going to try to play more solid because i think day 1's success got to my head.

Anyways. Challenge is still on. Will be playing loads of hands later on today and will be posting graphs again tomorrow.

This is what i got so far .(Since july 1st)(in 3 days)(5 NL STRICTLY)

I know the "Went to showdown and won" stat is gross compared to the previous one i posted earlier in the thread . Im definitely calling much more than i should be and seeing to many showdown with second or third best hands. Will be working on that.

Also i think my vpip pfr gap is a bit too wide?

any stat comments would be useful cause im just getting used to the stats. thnks alot people. any other stat tips ,suggestions would be more than welcome.
