First time post so bear with me please!

I used to play a lot of NL Hold'em in high school. I was able to build up a decent sized bankroll and then I stopped playing. I know, why quit on top, you're supposed to lose it all and then quit! But I was being recruited for athletics in college and so I hung up the decks for a while because I had zero time. I like to think that I was a pretty good player.

Fast forward to now, 10 years later, now I'm a physician. I joined a country club and they have a weekly poker game that can get pretty wild. The game is NL with players buying in for as little as $500 and as much as 5K, and many reload after they lose it all! Pots often can get as high as 5-10K. It's mostly just ego though, well, all ego.

It's VERY loose with 5,6,7,8+ players limping or pushing in every hand with rags. And even though the blinds were 2,4 there was NEVER a hand that saw a flop with just the big blind. It was always raised to 100-500 or even all in. I'm guessing that most posts on here are asking how to play against this kind of table. This is not one of those posts. I picked up right where I left off in high school and tripled my money in four hours. I played it tight, trapped a lot of players, played percentage-math-based poker, and read the players well. It was pretty easy actually. It was easy to wait for the right hands because blinds are only 2,4 and there are 13 players at the table, so you can literally sit there for hours waiting for the right hand.

My question is this: as the night went on, the adrenaline and egos at the table died down quite a bit and the table started to resemble an actual poker game with players respecting their cards and making "decent" calls. "Decent" is generous, there was still plenty of bad poker going on. I'm a good player, but I'm no pro and I don't presume to know everything. So my question is this: should I have kept playing my tight game as the table got tighter or should I have used the tight reputation that I had built up to my advantage? The good thing is, is that from now on they will look at me as a tight player, which can be a great pet to have!

So, thoughts? Advice? Recommended reading?

Just play tight. You may try bluffing in some hand and irritate some of you opponents so that they will call your big value bets afterwards.

It can never be too tight when facing calling station fishes.
