A recent hand analysis thread reminded me of a series of articles that were originally released with Hold'em Manager 1 to help use the software. However, they also contained some valuable tips on how to suck less.

There were 8 articles in the series, and many of them are out of date, or are particular to running Hold'em Manager filters. However, the one I enjoyed the most is "Analysis - Facing a preflop 3-bet." It is a discussion of how typical players 3-bet in various positions, and a game theory optimal analysis for proper 4-betting frequencies. It's where the infamous chart that I post if someone asks "I got 3-bet, should I ____?" comes from.

I've included the article as a pdf file below. Also, if you want the other original articles, I've included links to them as well.

Articles 1-3
Articles 4-8 in Word Format

They're quite useful, as they detail how to make quick approximations on the fly, given stats that converge quickly. I really think they're worth a read if you're above 10NL. You should be able to easily understand where the information comes from and how it was obtained.

C9. Im reading this article and find it very interesting. I take it the math is just based on 100bb stacks with standard 3x open, 9x 3 bet and 20x 4bet? then use equity vs range and pot odds to figure it out?

I was discussing a spot with some the other day, and we were comparing villains 3 and 4 bet stat and both agreed they arent the same cause its two different ranges.

Can you help explain this to me better please?
