So I'm still looking to play tournaments but not a lot as I can't really handle the varaince of them, how can a tournament play make the transition from Tournament play to cash games slowly, I'm starting this thread so that by this time next year I will be a full cash player maybe playing one or two tournaments - what books should I look out and what software should I invest in?

how many people have actually swapped from being a tournament player to cash player as it would be handy to know from others expereince

I read one or two books and tbh, they were either too vague/outdated in today's modern games. The games have evolved a lot, and from what I've heard they are a lot harder than the years before.

Hold Em Manager 2 is a good investment that allows you to review hands and track stats/graphs. Learning-wise I think Poker Bank videos on Youtube by James were extremely helpful. I think reviewing a lot of hands that go to showdown are the most beneficial way to learn.

If you want to transition to cash games, have about 25BI+. Variance still sucks in cash games.

Turn bet a little bigger. 75-80%. You want to build a pot if the BTN has something. This hand is a cooler. He only has like 15bb. We're never getting away from a straight here from a fish for 15bb. And it's really hard to backdoor into a flush, let alone make a flush.

Cash games boring, if you can switch from tournaments to cash then good luck! The program will advise the P/T 4 and X/M 2 and Holdem Indicator.

I think the most important thing is to not try to force anything. In a tournament there are times when the circumstances mean you need to do something. Thus it can be frustrating no longer having those key situations driving your actions. It can be tough making decisions because it's the right decision against this player, in position and not because x circumstance means you should do that.

Also in cash games position is much more critical as is postflop play.

Going to cash games is difficult for most tournament players

Going to cash games is difficult for most tournament players. In cash games stacks are usually deeper, the blinds are always at the same level and you can refill the stack at any time. For cash games, a completely different strategy is needed compared to tournaments. Cash games are harder than tournaments. First, tournaments attract more fishes. Secondly, from the structural point of view, more recent streets (turn and river) are used in cash games more often than in tournaments because of deeper stacks. I advise you to read the following literature: "Harrington about online cash games: 6-Max Unlimited Holdem" and "Cash by Harrington". In these books, all the subtleties of the cash game are described very well and in detail.

So just had this hand I thought I'd go ahead as the original raiser was rather agro and been raising lots of hands and the player who called was a clear fish was this just a cooler ? or could I have played this better.

In my opinion your starting hand wasn't strong enough to be re-raising player one preflop. You have nothing on the flop but a gut shot for the second nut straight. So you should check-fold with your cards. You hit your gut shot the same time as the guy hit the second nut flush draw. You could have went all in when you hit your straight, but he is short stack, so he isn't going anywhere. On the river you made a small bet, which the other player called only, because the same card that gave him the flush also paired the board. If you had pushed all in on the river, I think the guy would have called, because he is short stack and has the second nut flush. If he had a bigger stack at risk, you might have got him off his flush draw on the turn. However, you already said that he was a big fish, so probably not likely. You would have just lost more money than you did. You minimized your loss.
