If you stay composed, play ABC, manage tilt, don't be too bluffy/ fancy, we can all beat the micros I believe.

Micros as I am finding takes such a huge amount of patience. Often seeming like you're getting no where, dealing with small change. I think as much studying on the game should be done on yourself, and self discipline, especially at micros. Its so easy to get bored and then play a bit loosey-goosey and before you know it you're spewing chips and tilted. I guess this thread came out of today, where I ended up spewing (due to bad beats), then screwed my head on properly and won majority of it back. I guess I have a tilt problem.

Any of you struggling or running bad stick in there, be patient and let the cards come to you!

Good post Robbo :)

+1.

I don't tilt at the game any more. If I feel something coming on where I know I'm gonna pop a seal, I shut it down and walk away.

You're spot on the money when you say it takes patience. Yes, the cards WILL TURN. When? Maybe not soon enough for us, but they will

Often seeming like you're getting no where, dealing with small change.

I find it helpful to think of the bets as bbs only. Forget it's pennies, think of bbs and % of your stack. This helps take away the boredom, and also, prepares you better for when you move up and a bb isn't a couple of pennies any more, it's a dime, or a quarter, or a dollar (or a Quid to you I guess:D ). To me, if you wouldn't call a 3bb raise at $200 NLHE with 9-10 suited, you damn well shouldn't call it at a $2 game. My opinion only, and if I'm wrong, feel free to tell me.

I wish I could change $ amounts to BB's on Bovada, would be so helpful. I struggle with this at times.

Everyone has the same struggle. The difference in some days it don't matter what garbage or great cards you play your going to win and indestructible.

I guess the difference between the men and the boys is being able to change gears from when things are going your way and to back off and dim it down a bit when things aren't. I actually have moments where in a session i'll actually start cancelling decisions because things are all going wrong and to stop total destruction fold fold fold fold.. Other times I'm like raise raise raise it don't matter I'm in! :)

Anyways some people will dislike that but sometimes you just gotta do what ya gotta do to win at the end of the day, whatever it takes. But ofc there is those odd days or two in a row where you just shouldn't have woke up and just needed to stay away from the tables. Bad play on my graph is when I have zig zag up/down cards are falling for me but losing as well (wasting the winning day)... Downswings when I'm down/levelling/down baby! and that's when it's turn off and do something else :) and you just feel like giving up poker that day and then if you grind for too long those days. Discipline is so hard but I'm slowly training myself and seeing the patterns of my bad playing/good playing.

It's not quite so simple. Your statement assumes the same conditions exist at both levels. But that's pretty unlikely since the opponents skill levels and styles aren't the same. Neither will yours be if / when you arrive at nl200.

I have a tilt problem too. Exact same scenario OP'er mentioned gets me spewing. Spewing after I've dedicated so much time to studying and improving. I play good. I feel froggy. I play bad and spew. If I can curb the tendencies I know I can beat the micros too.

The biggest challenge with micro stakes is that if you are aren't getting the hands then there is nothing "creative" you can do to make some money. Patience patience and more patience is the name of the game.
