You need to do more than just read people, especially online since all you can read is betting patterns and hand ranges based on what you have seen. I don't know there are a lot of things to work on in online poker besides just reading the players. Not to discredit reading of players which is a very important skill to learn.

I know there are some decent poker psychology books out there, but haven't read any. Im sure you can find a post on CC about poker books though.

Yes live being able to read players gives you a huge advantage.

Google Mike Caro, or search him on Amazon/other bookstore site.

+1, I read his book on tells and it's still the most useful book for live play that I've read. It was the book that was most immediately applicable to actually playing (in my experience).

Even live though, working on your game has to come first. Soulreading is fun, but making sure the fundamentals of your play is solid is even more +EV

+1 on this - personally, I think soulreading based on tells is overrated (though absolutely useful), soulreading based on player betting patterns and hand reading is much more important.

Where do your reads work? At freerolls?
You can never be sure that a read it good.
Espacially at online poker....
