I'm wondering how long everyone's cash sessions are. I myself find that I play way to much. Usually like 6+ hours. This might be affecting my play in a negative way. Anyone usually grind like this?

I normally grind 2-3 hrs a night sometimes an hr right after work. Fridays can be up to 5 hrs depending how I feel.

Saturday I will grind for 2-4 hrs have a lil break and grind for another 4 have a break and grind for another 4... Saturday night usually 2-3

But it all depends on my winning or how I'm playing.

If I had no family or wife ... I'd just eat/sleep grind on the weekend.

Having a "time limit" is not the way to go about it. Go by your mental state of mind, if you are tired, tilting, unfocused, and just making all around bad decisions just get off. A lot of people struggle with recognizing this(me included, hell I should probably get off now) and just keep going not playing their best.

Good point thanks for the advice. the reason Im grinding so much may be because Im not winning much. grinding .5/.10 takes a long time to build a bankroll.

It's been said a lot of times but here is the answer.

Don't be goal orientated.. Make the correct decisions and work on improving your game eventually it should all come together naturally.

+1 you can set aside 8hrs for poker and have all the time in the world but if your not mentally stable it would be a waste. Play within your comfort zone "how much your brain can handle"

I do that when going for short sessions. Otherwise I'll stop when I feel like it. As long as I'm making rational decisions I will continue playing, but when I see myself making bad plays or start feeling tired I'll stop because I will most likely be wasting money from then on.

Well depends on the number of tables you play and how comfortable you are mentally. Do you multitable for 6+ hours and if so how many do you play. If you think this is affecting your game in a negative way then try reducing the number of tables rather than putting a time limit.

Right now I 4 table on bovada which I think I can handle well. But maybe after a couple hours I should reduce the number of tables. Thank you all for the replies

What is your bankroll? If you are having bankroll problems its probably because your roll isn't big enough for how many tables you are playing.

It depends.
If Im running good, Ill extend my usual time.
If I see bad beats and suck outs 5x (on my part), Im out.

Right now it is at 300 and I 4 table 25nl 6 max on bovada. I think I might be pushing it here But I usually only 4 table when I'm really in the zone.

This is something I'm focusing more on also. It's hard to remain really focused for me after 3 hours. Tilt sometimes creeps up on you over the course of a session also. It's very important to keep tabs on your mental state and be able to realise when there is a problem.

No offense but you barely have enough money to play 1 table of the limit you are at now. You need 10-20 max buy-ins to play at a certain limit. That is why you are having problems. Your bankroll is not big enough to sustain your loses. Play one table until your bankroll is bigger. I am sure you will see better results.

Yeah, if I were you I would 4-table 10nl with only a $300 bankroll.

4 tabling is the way to go though. If you're a winning player (and expected to win $ at one table), you might as well play more tables, and you'll be winning more.

As for setting a pre-determined time limit or something like that, I don't really do that. After I've been playing for a while and make a bad decision or two, I normally just log out

I'm gonna limit myself to two tables for now. Thank you all for the great advice.
