Is there a secret science behind multi tabling successfully?

I'm wondering how in the hell there are players that are able to multi table successfully. Especially if they are playing 25 NL.

I've noticed that my focus is off and my decision making takes a big hit the moment I set up two tables. It's as if I just run the decision through my head quickly then make some bogus call or some foolish play. I'm also unable to concentrate on a players tendencies or pick up a good read or have an idea of what the other player is doing or has.

When I play on one single table I can play at my own pace and am not in a rush.. The moment I seem to add a table I'm all-in all a sudden and watching my stack go down. What is the secret to being a good multi table player if there is any.

From what my book says "Treat your Poker Like a Business" By: Dusty Schmidt. He says you should always be constantly adding one table at a time. I can't even imagine doing this otherwise I'll be broke quick.

Thoughts on how to multi table successfully?

Experience.

People that multi table successfully are just experienced in situations and can act without really thinking much.

It really is as simple as that.

I would recommend playing 5nl and trying to get as much experience as you can, if your looking for a get rich quick scheme out of poker your like 10 years to late. Those players also invest into useful tools such as holdem manager 2 and leak buster just to mention a few already being levels ahead of players without that knowledge. No poker is easier than live, but variance can be a killer and because you get so few hands.

There is a not-so-secret science to it. The more tables you have running the more you have to treat it like you are the casino - in other words playing when the math/odds are on your side - not playing to get lucky.

Start by playing 1 table of 2NL, then after a few thousand hands, start playing 2 tables of 2NL, then after a few thousand more hands, play 3 tables of 2NL, and keep going up until you're playing about 12 tables at once.

Then when you're ready to move up to 5NL, drop down to about 4 tables at once, play a few thousand hands, increase to 5 tables, and keep repeating this lengthy process until you're playing 12 tables of 5NL and winning.

Then move up to 10NL and do the same thing.

You should expect to play around 50k-100k hands of each stake before you move up in stakes, and you'll slowly learn to multi-table by making gradual increases over time. Don't rush it.

If you can't do it successfully then don't do it. Play one table until you gain the experience and skills to beat the game. It's not going to happen overnight. I think you severely underestimate the time it takes to become a winning player and this might be the source of your tilt.

Multiple monitors help. I had a 3 monitor set up when i was playing on Fulltilt years ago. GLORIOUS to be able to see everything and not in mini form.

As far as the skill of using multiple tables.... Play. More. Get. Better. More. Better. Play. You have to be able to multi-task, simple as that.

As in, just wait for a sets, straights, flushes. I would guess haha.

I am so sick and tired of losing with one pair and two-pair hands.

I like this suggestion all the others are good as well.

This is exactly why I'm suggesting that you start at 2NL and build up a bankroll slowly. If you lost 5 BI at 2NL, you probably wouldn't be smashing your computer screen in frustration because you wouldn't care as much. It's obvious that you're extremely emotional about the money you're playing with, so you need to move down in stakes.

Cuz you can't beat 25NL. I know it's a trivial amount of money to you (though breaking your computer might prove otherwise), but online is waaay different than live. People aren't just going to hand you money like live donks, even at 25NL.

Its not about the money, its about learning the game more than anything else. I have learnt that the mentality of, oh I cant player lower than this because I already play so high, is usually the road to bustoville.

Sometimes you got to play smaller games for smaller money and sometimes you need to practise.

Yeah I actually just lost the rest of my roll on Bovada right now. All 215$ of it.

Bout to be done with online play. I can't deal with this BS any more.

100 NL Zoom trying to recoup my losses fast.

All in with Pocket QQ off the flop.
Against AJ suited hearts
Flop: 3h, 4h, 5d

Of course he rivers an Ace and why wouldn't he :)

I think I'm done with online at this point.

Not shocked, one you don't have the mental fortitude for it seems and 2 from the posts and comments you have made I doubt you can beat the lowest limits. Ill say it for you since you won't, it takes a strong person to admit defeat.

Your problem is severe lack of technical knowledge (which appears to be typical for live players, especially from North America).

Namely, he is ahead in equity on that flop so squealing because you lost a 46% shot is ridonkulous.

Maybe to actually learn how to f***ing play well?

You need to get this into your thick skull: NL2 online is harder than 1/3 live.

Frankly, with the way you react to things, I don't even think you can beat NL2 online. NL25 and especially NL100? You'll get eaten up.

F'ing idiot!
He gave you advice that was sound. You should be listening and thanking him.
This reaction says a lot about you.

Against AJ suited hearts
Flop: 3h, 4h, 5d
Preflop:
QQ: 68.02% equity
AhJh: 31.98% equity

On that flop:
QQ: 46.92% equity
AhJh: 53.08% equity

You were flipping a coin on that flop, and lost.

I'm well aware. That is was a coin toss scenario. I'm like 0 for 100 in coin toss scenarios.

As far as online goes. THAT SHIT IS RIGGED!!!!! I do not care what anyone says. Or what anyone believes. Bovada is rigged junk. I will not insert another dime into that worthless site what a f'ing joke.

I have no problem staying live at the casinos making a living. Can't believe the amount of money I've wasted online on some stupid site way the hell out in China or something. Ugggghh.

Btw, I can already beat 5NL........I have run 5 dollar buy ins to 35$, 45$, 25$, 40$ on many occasions. I'm obviously not going to waste my time on 5NL playing against some kid just learning how to play Poker.

...pretty sure this is impossible, but I could be mistaken. Maybe it's a double sided coin?

...Oh look, another "I'm losing online, it must be rigged." complaint. No way it can be your poor skill at the table or jumping into a stake you're unfamiliar with. Not that at all, right?

I have no problem staying live at the casinos making a living. Can't believe the amount of money I've wasted online on some stupid site way the hell out in China or something. Ugggghh.
...Yes, because bad beats don't ever happen live. *looks at your paper graph* nope, no signs of beats here or you ever losing is evident.

...Well, it sounds like your $5 run ups are fairing much better than your 25NL and higher games. Sounds like you'd be better of sticking with that.
above.

Your poker would improve a great deal if you took some anger management classes.

So you figure -$215 is a better return than + "pennies" and experience. I don't think you need to learn poker basics right now, probably just addition and subtraction.
