Just reading at the moment, thought Id share these with ye. They me laugh :) as well as educating me.

Mike Caros tells and phychology,

NEVER CRITICIZE WEAK OPPONENTS FOR BAD PLAYERS - it makes them uncomfortable and motivates them to play better.

NEVER COMPLIMENT WEAK OPPONENTS FOR GOOD PLAYS - it makes them uncomfortable and motivates them to play better.

NEVER DISCUSS STRATEGY AROUND WEAK OPPONENTS - it makes them aware there is strategy worth discussing.

PLAYERS WHO JUST SAT DOWN OR JUST GOT EVEN - are easier to bluff and less likely to plAY weak hands.

PLAYERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THERE BAD LUCK SELDOM BLUFF - so seldom call

YOUR OPPONENTS HAVE A CALLING REFLEX - and they will call anything that moves. When you have a great hand and your opponent is about to fold, do something to get his attention like knock something over, you never know he might just call

A SUDDENLY SHAKING HAND - almost never indicates a bluff.

A PLAYER WHO ISNT BREATHING - Is probably bluffing!

PLAYERS SUCKING CANDY OR CHEWING GUM - often stop sucking or chewing when they bluff.

SHRUGS, SIGHS, AND SAD SOUNDS - indicate strong hands.

LISTEN CAREFULLY WHEN AN OPPONENT SAYS THE WORD "BET" - if it sounds sad or reluctant, you're facing a strong hand.

DON'T WATCH THE FLOP - watch your opponents watch the flop.

OPPONENTS ARE MORE LIKELY TO FLOD IF THEY ARE -
looking at chips,
reaching toward chips,
conspicuously staring at you.

OPPONENTS ARE MORE LIKELY TO BET OR RAISE IF THEY ARE -
ignoring chips,
ignoring cards, staring away,
especially quite or still.

A TELL IS JUST ANOTHER FACTOR TO CONSIDER - and it needs to be weighed along with all other factors.

WHEN YOU INTEND TO CALL RELUCTANTLY - dont discourage the bet, dont let them know you would rather they didnt bet, always be confident with your calls.

HOW TO MAKE ANY POKER BULLY BEG FOR MERCY -
call more often,
raise less often,
seldom value bet.

For a more indept theory - super systems two by Doyle Brunson.

I enjoyed this thread alot. Every time we get a live game together there are always a couple newbies. I'll have to start watching for these tells and try not to make anyone play better.lol

Sorry that was a misprint - NEVER COMPLIMENT WEAK OPPONENTS FOR GOOD PLAYS - it makes them proud and motivates them to play better.

Mike Caros book of poker tells is probably the best poker-related book i've read.
Its hard to believe just how much your opponent (and yourself) give away without even realising it. :)

On the subject of tells... I found this very telling article about reading lies by the movements of a persons eye. This won't help you in an online room, of course, but it may just come in handy at your next poker night.

How to detect lies by eye direction:
