Being a Baduk (Go, Weiqi) player, it is common to get help from those a little stronger than you, and give help to those a little weaker. The idea is to have a bunch of players in a sort of ladder, all directly helping (coaching) the person right below them.
Mary who is losing at 2nl will get coached by
John who is beating 2nl for 3bb/100 who is getting coached by
Sandy who is beating 2nl for 7bb/100 but only beating 5nl for 2bb/100 who is getting coached by
Joe who is beating 5nl for 5bb/100
Anyone interested in setting up something like this?
I'd say have to have at least a 50,000 hand sample at a stake level to prove where you stand, unless you are applying as a losing player at the lowest stakes.
It's all a purely volunteer thing, and the winningest player to sign up would not have a coach until someone winninger signs up, but as we know, often we learn just as much from teaching; having to put our thought process into words and explanations helps us think through them better ourselves.
If interested, you would have to commit to answering questions by email and/or Skype from your assigned protege and a one hour a week lesson/sweat session or so.
The ladder will be periodically reshuffled. People who don't carry their weight will be removed from the chain immediately.
These are just my ideas on it. Anyone interested?
