I found by playing too much games I got mentally tired and started being impatient. Last night I made a huge mistake, which I wouldn't do if my mind was lucid and calm. I got QT off suited and flop came QAA, I probe bet a little and someone called. Turn came a T, I got excited and bet 3 or 4 times pot size, another guy went all in. I had to fold with big loss. Why did I do that? I think because I lost patience...

Do you take a break? I guess everybody do, more or less.

It is necessary to take a break when you feel that your mind is exhausted by the amount of hours you have been playing.

Cash tables tend to punish much more mistakes, if you are tilted, tired, half asleep, or any other factor that directly affects your performance is advisable to stop playing because an error can cost much more than you think.

You should always have a poker break at least 1-2 days in order to get away from it):damnmate:

Break

Sometimes I take a break especially when I'm losing, to leave my mind at peace and think of other things it makes me feel good.

Instead of taking a break I'd suggest spending more time studying. Why not post some HandHistories here in the Cash Game section, asking for advice from other members?

The line I put in bold above is for a reason. My question to you is "Why would you ever bet 3 or 4x POT in this spot?

There are still some guys here on the forum who are willing to help newer players. IF you are interested in becoming a winning micro stakes player, I believe you should be able to accomplish this without too much difficulty 'IF' you are willing to put in the time studying.

Good luck! Hope to be reading some HH posts by you some time.

I am taking break but great suggestion!

Make my original post as example, how would you guys deal with such situation: holding QT, flop came QAA, bet and everyone folded but one called; turn came a T, bet too much and that guy went all in...

I guess I should not bet too much on the turn, because of AA on flop. I think this is my mistake.

Absolutely! I am on the break right now :D I think people need to take a breaks in every branch of their activity. After it, you'll be more fresh and your efforts will be more productive.

I find the need as well to take break from cash games specifically zoom. The longer I play at one sitting I find myself making unnecessary calls and throwing away my bankroll.

I agree, it also happened to me more than once ... I need to rest, I would even say, of course, otherwise a loss is inevitable ..

The mind definitely needs time to rest once in a while. It's like exercise: you don't develop muscles when you're working out, you develop them when you're resting. Take a break and do some studying and everything will be fine

Fatigue is for certain my biggest challenge as I'm way to goal driven in the short-term.
More vulnerable to tilt, prone to all in, everything.
Simply giving an unmerited free card has taken me out on plenty of occasions. I even made the double paired board mistake you mentioned. Like who in the world would call unless I'm beat.

My opinion

I think most people here should be on pogo.com. It is a waist of thier talents to be just poker players. The monthly freeroll is where they should stand just to see those friends stuck in poker for whatever reason.

Learn how to post the Hand correctly on the forum so that you'll get the best & most informative responses.
ie. if it's on a tournament table, include all stack sizes from all player.
size of the blinds
player reads
our image
history vs. opponent (villain)
action up to the point of where it's our turn to act... or up to the point of 'decision'

Post as much information that you can that you feel will be helpful to others who are commenting.

Don't post the outcome of the hand until AFTER people have responded... otherwise it will prejudice some of the responses.

(Look through some of the other members Hand History posts so you can check out some examples for how to post your own)

tiredness limits your thinking, gets you into situations where you would not.

when one is tired or one has too much to eat, one tends to commit more error. It is better to avoid playing. in these cases, I prefer to watch poker videos on youtube or twitch to continue improving my game without having to bet money.

I usually take a half-hour coffee break after an hour of play at 6-10 tables, and then play another hour session.

No need to overwork yourself with a poker game. Vigilance and patience are lost. Rest and breaks are definitely needed.

Feel ya

Can't count how many times I have lost lots of money in cash games becouse I was tilted or tired. Everyone needs a break. If you don't feel good you can't perform well.

I play usually 6 max holdem. Sometimes when I don't have the motivation, getting bored etc I just choose a game type, tournament, omaha, anything (sometimes even Chinese open face). By that, I get motivation for that exact game type and I usually get a good profit by that. And when I start to get bored again I come back to 6max holdem. I take breaks very rarely. Just be open-minded.

A poker break is necessary ...need to know the measure ,because the long game brain stops working as it should ,naturally you become unable to bear to wait.
