Below is a snip of the lobby at UB showing the tables I play. On other sites, I usually go for any "% Players Per Flop" (just "Flop" here) over 40%. But what if they are all under 40% and nearly the same?

I do take in consideration the "hands/Hr" number, as a high number usually means the table is new and there were fewer players which means more hands and inflates the flop %. How does "Avg Pot" figure into things?

Which table would you choose & why? Or would you not choose any and try another site since they all seem tight?

I usally only look at the hands per hour. That tells me if it is a loose table. The adverage pot size is no good because one pot can change teh adverage drasticly. So for me I make it simple. A lot of hands 120+ and a loose table. I did as you are trying to do find some complex certian way to choose a table. But after finding a formula I liked and made sense it seemed it wasn't that great so............ I just jump on any table with one seat open 120+ hands and go for it. If the table is not to my liking I just move.

One other thing If I happen to see a table like this and it has a very low flop % I come in quite tight pre-flop for 15-20 hands or so and if the table is really that tight I try to push it around hard and take some chips until I break up the action. Then when they start playing more, I tighten up post flop like a wet piece of leather. EDIT: And when they figure me out I find another table and repet the same game. Many nights playing .10 no-limit, I ran 5 bucks into a hundred doing this......Nasty I know but.....thats poker

I'm no cash table vet. by any means (long term loser actually :() but when I look for tables, the first two things I look at are %flops, and average pot.

I go for the loosest, most aggressive tables and play a TAG style to milk 'em for all they've got :)

Like toadly said, avg pot size can be deceiving, but if you look at a table for 5 or 10 hands before sitting down, you can spot the loose tables pretty easily.

Funny you say that Chuck
"Watching the tables chart for a few hands". I thought of that but, I really don't think I ever did it for more than 2-3 hands. I would scan and choose. I can see how looking at half dozen or so hands over a dozens tables it would be very easy to spot the loose table. I agree, next time I am gonna make a effort to try this in a bit more depth

"Watching the tables chart for a few hands"

I meant watching the actual table, but I'm sure that would work fine too.

Abuja because from the flop percentage, it's a very tight table and you'll be able to bluff often and win more chips. You just have to worry about the one or two guys who re apparently doing the same thing. The average pot is good too.

24%? Don't you have to worry about getting trapped by the nuts more often when bluffing than if you were at say... over 30%? At 24%, I would think everyone is just playing the top 10 hands and you'd have to risk more with bluffs just to pick up the blinds. Then, if YOU have the nuts, you won't have many callers. Am I right or wrong?

It all depends on your playing style, but If you're talking about playing a TAG style, then play at a looser table. If you want to play a loose/aggressive style, then pick a tight table.

Playing LAG at the tight table will yeild good profits; you just have to be cautious when someone calls one of your many PF raises - if they're tight, they're playing solid hands, and you have to be careful.

Playing TAG at a loose table, you'll be the one playing premiums-only, and won't really have to worry about your opponents hand selection.
