I took a look at pages before but couldn’t find anything about table selection.

What do you look for when you select a table at the micros? Is there something I can use to helm me select a the “perfect environment”?
Do you know of a good book or youtube video I can look at?

Blackrain79 is the micro stake cash games king. Go look at his videos.
- Big gap between their vpip and pfr
- low aggression - 1 or less
- players without at least 100bb stacks
- players with a very high vpip 35+
- players with a high call stats especially on river
- players with low 3bet/4bet stats

Hope that helps

As above. Also tag the fish! The colour system works a treat

Download Table Scanner... look for highest vpip15%+ tables and highest Avg pot. It cost $80 but it pays for itself immediately.

They do have a 7 day free trial version. You could also ask for another 7 day extension

EchoEllis pretty much covered it all.

I would like to add that I am looking for either fish (previously tagged as fish), or players that I have longer hand histories with - just makes the stats that much more accurate, as opposed to players that I have 0 hands played with.

A small number of hands per hour
If this number is small, it often means that a lot of players on the flop and often rally comes to an autopsy. Also, this parameter can be determined indirectly looseness table.

Average pot can be misleading, in that there might be several hands in a row where players had legitimate hands. I think average number of players per hand is a better indication of general level of ability at a table.

I most concerned with avoiding the few good players you will find. Choose a table without any players that stand out as strong or if there is a good player avoid them and be sure you are not to their immediate right. Otherwise you will be fine. Mix it up a bit but for the most part play straight forward and patient and you will win. You can build a bankroll this way without ever using your own money just start with free roll winnings

table selection is probably the most important factor to winning money and most players spend no time on it

think a program like table scanner can really optimize your search or just look for big vpips or players you have marked as whales

My preference is to look for tables where the chip stacks are relatively even and the highest stack is close to the max. I try to stay away from tables with 1 or 2 players with 400+ bb's, unless I know that they are bingo players who are ripe for the taking. I also try to stay away from tables where the average pot is 30+ bb's. It may be players are getting good hands, but more often it is bingo players going all-in every hand.

Before I sit on the table in the micro cache, I completely study all the data on the table:
1. The number of players at the table.
2. The average pot at the table.
3. The number of players on the flop.
4. Number of hands per hour.
This information gives me a clue as to whether the table is aggressive or passive, and what kind of money I will have to risk to play at this table. Then I watch the game for a while on this table and if everything suits me, I'm rejoining the game.
