I feel one important position in poker is image..

but how do you use your image to gain profit.. alot of ppl talk about respect the raise or respect the chip leader but you have to be carefull of to much respect.. preflop respect when your a tight aggressive player is bad as you can't even raise a marginal hand without ppl folding there for your profit is lost, but limping is just a bad idea, cause even if you loose a certain hand to a pp AA's to a rivr str8 or flush ppl will still see you were in the hand with a great advantage preflop, so i see bloggs about ppl wanting to know should i show a hand or muck it.

i say this i love the table respect but in the same note i like to put ppl at ease aswell so what i do if i have alot of respect, so as i can eventually gain profit i like to raise min bet with say a hand not a pocket pair of any kind mind you say 8 j if folded to you which may happen if you have respect.. so if folded to me i'll show!! so ppl are never sure what im raising with and the next time you raise a min bet you may get a few more callers, to help get a lil profit, also i try to use more of the respect post flop or turn and i most generally try not to bluff the rvr, thats too much advantage to the other players, now i don't recommend just pushing with anything but if you have a str8 draw or flush draw, or atleast something to as if you are called you can still profit if you win..

remember if you push to hard and are called and you have nothing.. the next time you have a really nice hand you may get donked with something stupid..

so don't push to many hands and it is most definatly to your advantage to show.. BUT dont show to much.. respect is somthing earned but not used properly you may find yourself on the rail.

I would nearly never show my hand!
Only if i get many good hands and want the other players to believe that i am playing tight....
Otherwise keep the players guessing....

y would u ever show a hand. in my experience ppl will trick themselves into thinking ur bluffing. they start thinking things like he cant always have a hand and before u know it u get called. keep your cards hidden and let other ppl play mind games with themselves.

It's harder to get respect i think in MTT. Unless you're at the same table throughout the tournament. Which will be highly unlikely. Although, I agree in your posts, especially in ring games. This allows you to bluff and getaway with it.
