i've recently started using the HUD that carbon offers (ive never used one before so im not sure if its a respectable software or not, im still getting used to how to utilize the data i get from it effectively) and im trying to figure out exactly what i want my image to be like...ive always been cognizant about the fact that im a LAG player, and only recently have i overcome the bitterness of "suckouts" and accepted that the hands i complain about (a good amount of them at least) are my own doing...

basically, so far i have no reason to doubt my reads and my sheer ability to outplay someone postflop...im not saying im phil ivey or anything but i feel like i have a good understanding of how any given table is flowing and more often than not my plays work out despite the cards im holding...HOWEVER....looking at the data im seeing in my HUD stats, i really....really need to tighten up...i realize a lot of the things that bite me in the ass simply the result of me getting no respect because of my image...people overplay hands solely because they know im being laggy, and even tho im ahead at some point they catch the river and my head explodes...

i say that to say this: how would you suggest going from a LAG player to im not even sure what it would be called really, i guess just plain solid? like how to play a wider range of hands preflop (while maintaining a respectable vpip) and still be able to effectively outplay people postflop despite your image? should i just become tight as a rock for a long time and then surprise people wen i open up? or what? i've never really strategized my game like this, so forgive me if im not even asking the question properly...i'd really appreciate any insight tho, im really trying to get my game to another level right now and i feel like its getting better every day...sorry for the long ass post, my mind's just been on this all day...thank u if you read all this

whats your range look like right now?

best way to accomplish your goals imo is to tighten the hell up from EP, MP and the blinds. continue to go bonkers w/ position lol.

another thing i like to do, (although its not applicable at micros if thats where youre at) is to play overly laggy pre for the first 10mins of each table youre playing.

raise wider from all pos esp CO and Btn, 3b light in the blinds everytime someone opens who folds to a ton of 3bs, etc, but make sure you STOP this nonsense after 10 mins.
The point of doing this is that it will TOTALLY manipulate your stats for a long time before they converge properly, and there are a lot of players who will now pay you off pre on your big hands, but also post- people seem to think youre FOS all the time post when your VPIP and PFR and on the high side, regardless of whether you tighten up or not, because the vast majority of players will not notice the change in your play as theyre simply relying on HUD stats of their own because theyre playing too many tables to concentrate on you

I wanted to say this for a long time but i am kinda polite guy myself. You do not need to tighten up or to loosen. You need to learn poker mate.
The goal of this game is to eliminate the luck factor as much as possible.
"Small hands, small pots, big hands, big pots" . This is what poker is about. You have to make it si that when you have marginal hands to control the size of the pot and when you have strong hands to put money in. I do not understand why most players do exactely the opposite. They bluff with garbage making the pot big , and they w8 for the opponent to put the money in the middle when they have a monster.
We all do get suckouts. It is unavoidable. But the suckouts are not the element that take us down. Playing big pots with marginal hands or bluffing with air are the stupid things we do so we get broke.
Here are 2 examples of stupid things that beginners do again and again.
I mean. We raise 3BB from MP with 66. We get reraised and we call against the odds so that we setmine. The flop is 743. Villan raises 3/4 of the pot and we call because we think he is bluffing. An A comes on the turn. Villan checks and we go all in because we thinnk he will fold because he showed weakeness. He calls and he has set of aces.
Or again . We raise from MP with 66 against a loose passive guy and the board is 87J with 87 of the same collor. We c-bet he calls. Turn is a dewce. We c-bet again he calls and the river is a 5. We c-bet he calls and he shows 67.
So after doing this kind of bad play again and again loosing like 5-6 buy-ins we get Aces . We raise , we get reraised and we shove. Villan has 44 and he gets a 4 on the flop. We loose a buy-in. We quickly go at the forum and scream like there is no tomorrow that poker is rigged. Our game is good we play like gods but somehow we get busted.

Sorry for derailing. But i had to say it. You are a losing player because you play bad overall. My advice is to start with the basics.
PS. This was not only for you. This is for all the players that leak money ans than ask why. Sometime a brutal approach make the one that listens to really listen.

I like the stat manipulation jchoop! Especially if you can really tightn up after and know how to take advantage.

Smokeme...a lot of LAG players, myself included, can stay pretty close to EV playing 60+% of their hands for a short while

Playing loose, especially in late position, pre-flop is part of a solid stratagy. You just need to adjust and play tight when they start to catch on. Keep pots small until you have a big hand, then get it in. People often call, thinking youre still out of line.

He only means getting aggro pre, doesnt mean you need to stack off with 6 high.

I like this.

What a mong I've been, paying off for exactly these reasons, 25 hands 65/32 he's got to be full of shit. Oh, he has it.

Im going to bear this in mind from both sides of the perspective.
