Hi all

I have been playing MTTs for awhile now and have been having thoughts about switching to cash games. MTTs take a long time to finish and I am keen on the idea that i can sit up and stop whenever I want.

Any advice in terms of different strategies or approaches, or any good videos/books I should reed up on?

I personally have been struggling with this as i am also a tournament player. I have found that you should stick to ABC poker till you get used to the changes. Also do not get attached to big pairs, basically just utilise position.

It is important not to get carried away with cash games. Make sure you look at your balance at all times. Also be very careful when you go all-in because the money you made in hours could be lost in seconds.

Good luck! :)

The one big difference that I've noticed is that bluffing carries a lot more weight in 6-max NLHE cash games. You'll see MUCH less shoving at 6-max cash tables, and when you do, it's likely with AA, KK or AK or a set after you've been appropriately sucked in to the hand. At 9 - 10 person tables on the other hand, you are going to see good hands virtually every deal, which means you'll have to focus more on your cards rather than how the other players may react to your aggressive play.

Mmmm... well, this isn't at all true. I think I know what you meant, but I assume you're mainly a tournament player.

I mean the bottom line is if you want to become better, play short handed cash games. HU's is also great. But when you play more hands when players have 3+ bullets to fire, and SPR is higher, you're going to learn a lot more about poker much quicker than push/fold tournament poker.

I'd recommend my free cash game book. Link below in my signature. We have a long running sweat and learning group on polished poker here in cardschat.
