For a while I have been interested in getting a coach. So naturally, I went around looking to find out info like cost, availability, number of sessions, testimonials, etc......Anyways, like many others, I found out that I really dont have the roll to pay for coaching (well right now I do. But I haven' always in the past. And I can assure you there are plenty of people who are in the same boat.) Anyways, I stumbled upon a thread where people offered to sweat others for free. Their reason might be they wanted to get sweated themselves or have thought about coaching and wanted to see if they really wanted to pursue it. Whatever the reasons would be, I thought this was a great idea. A philanthropist attitude is needed here. How nice would it be to have someone help you adjust to moving up in limits? I.e. someone who is a reg at 100nl help someone adjust to 50nl. That same 50nl person helps out someone who is having trouble at 10nl. And sure, there is a trickle down effect. A 400nl player really wouldn't have many people to be sweated by. But I'm pretty certain, that they would be able to afford coaching at that level. And if they just wanted to help someone else out, no reason to stop them. Even if it is someone at the same level helping out a person who feels that they might be weak tight etc (two heads are better than one. And they might have different skillsets than you.).....I think a lot of good came come from this. So, I propose that cardschat, being one of the best forums around, we do the same thing. And I hope you aren't here for just the freerolls and private tourneys. If so, so be it. But I can say, without a doubt, that was the whole reason I joined and even knew the place existed. Since then, I have learned sooooo much. I feel that I have improved by leaps and bounds. This forum has done so much for me, I would like to give something back. Even if that means sweating someone at 02nl for an hour or even helping someone get their hud to work properly. Anyways, back to the point. This would have to be regulated in some way. I think a 100 post count or something like that would be needed in order to volunteer to sweat. Sweating would be by a volunteer basis. This means not pm'ing someone you know has sweat someone else in the past and asking them to do the same for you. I.e., no begging! If those rules were broken, repercussions should follow to the tune of something like: you are ineligible to be sweated for a certain period of time or permanently etc.....I think a hud is pretty much a necessity as well. Exception being sng's or something like that (even vpip, pfr and af are pretty needed for that if you are planning to play more than one table.) The idea here is to find leaks, and fine tune.....Not learn to play. If you are just starting out, I suggest looking in the beginners forum (there are a lot of good reads in there.) But if you find someone who is willing to help you get going, more power to you. So the standards for the signup would be the following:
1. Name.
2. Goals in poker.
3. How many hours a week you play/study.
4. Type of game (Holdem, PLOmaha 8b, Sng's, Mtt's........etc.)
5. Stakes.
6. Type of player you are or want to be (Tag, Lag, Nit....w/e.)
6. Strengths.
7. Weaknesses.
8. What you want to get out of this.
9. What you would like to improve.
10. Have you sweated or been sweated by anyone else before?

Skype would pretty much be standard as well here....so if you dont have at least a microphone, you would not be able to participate. As well, you should download either mikogo or team viewer or something like that if you want your sweater to be able to see what is going on. Again, this is a volunteer basis only. If by any way this is against the rules of the forum, I apologize, lock the thread.

One reason people might be slow in signing up is because this entire site is kind of designed to do what your talking about. Help others and yourself improve.

I'd be interested in a free sweat session from one you more advanced players.

I've been playing seriously(with real money) for 2 weeks.
I've been reading everything I can when I have time.
I have been most comfortable with $1-$3 SNG's/MTT's, but I'm not against playing more ring games.
My BR is on pokerstars (~50).
I have PT3 Micro
I have a headset/mic. Ventrilo. VNC. A gotomeeting account. I can download skype or whatever is required.

I don't necessarily even need a sweat session for my own play, I think I could get a lot out of watching someone good play their own cards, maybe with a bit of a voiceover / QA. I have been watching videos similiar to this, but a lot of them really suck.

I'm definitely interested in someone taking stock of how I play my game and hopefully point out some big mistakes I make. I just don't have the money to pay for a deuces cracked/stox account or to pay for a coach.

I can understand if 2 weeks in doesn't really qualify for something like this, as I'm sure there are people who have been playing years who might need this as well, but I figured I'd take a stab at it.

Thanks

I will sweat or get sweated by anyone that would like to. Kid, PM me and we can set up a time.

Dcor, great idea, but poor execution, you made it too complicated. That's why you don't have any takers.

QFT.

I prefer to do a session analysis than a sweat. When I'm sweating you, I have to try and give you analysis on the spot, and its a little harder under pressure. In a session analysis I can pause the video, and take time to present a logical argument for the best course of action. Plus I can run filters, look for leaks, ect. I guess I'm just not good enough to always know right off the bat what the best play is, so I prefer a format that gives me time to format the best answer.

1. c9h13no3, you can call me C9 ;)
2. $
3. 25 hrs/week or so
4. Shorthanded NLHE, Stud 8, Stud Hi cash games
5. Up to $100 NLHE, Anything up to $15/$30 in the stud games
6. A winning one
6. Getting value, hand reading, deep stacked play
7. Fancy play syndrome, tilt control
8. Bored, its fun to help.
9. Teaching others helps me with my game as well.
10. Yes.

I'd be willing to do session analysis (or a sweat if you REALLY must do it that way). Send me like ~1000 hands in a format that HEM can import, and I'll ship you back a video critique of your play.

I think this is a great idea for ppl who are at the micro levels and want to improve their game, but cant afford any of the coach sites.
Me myself im grinding in these micro levels and kinda need help improving my game in MTT's.

1. Name -- Alex

2. Goals in poker -- To be a better MTT player

3. How many hours a week you play/study -- 18hrs of play. Dont study much.

4. Type of game -- NLHE

5. Stakes -- Doin BRM so the most in a MTT would b $2.

6. Type of player you are or want to be (Tag, Lag, Nit....w/e.) -- Im TAG

6. Strengths -- Using my pos to take advantage of the weak limpy players.

7. Weaknesses -- Not gettin enough vaule, making stupid plays. (folding cards which would of turned out to be monster pots which get me )

8. What you want to get out of this -- More $ and to move up the ladder.

9. What you would like to improve -- My play in later stages of a MTT and my cash game play.

10. Have you sweated or been sweated by anyone else before? -- No. Thats y im thinkin this is a great idea.

I would like to start this but i need a mic, skype, HEM etc etc.

First i would like to watch a player play in a MTT and see how he plays and study.
