11bb at 2nl? I assume 2nl means 0.01/0.02? Your friend is an idiot, 11bb is sustainable anywhere from 2nl to 50nl (and even 100nl or 200nl if you're playing heads up cashgames and only bumhunt guys whose win rate is -5.0bb/100 or worse, I've seen several people with rates above 11bb/100 w/samples higher than 100,000). 12,000 hands isn't THAT big, but it's enough to say with confidence that at the top of your game you can win $x.xx much... I once won $16,000 in a single 50 hour session 4-8tables of 400nl depending on what time of day it was, my winrate was over 14bb after 14,000 hands or so. I've never matched that winrate before or since, or that win total for that matter lol- but the bottom line is I still did it, and so did you with your 11bb.
Honestly at 2nl 6max I don't respect anything less than 10bb. I haven't played that low for 6 or 7 years (and I kinda sucked back then =\ way overtight) and even then my monthly bb/100 average never dipped below 25. This applies to 5nl as well, the players are identically reckless / generous. At 10nl and 25nl people start caring about the value of an entire buyin, but the average player is still going to be a joke... 11bb is tough sustain at 25nl and higher, and to sustain 11bb from 10,000 hands for the rest of your career takes JAW DROPPING LEVELS OF SKILL, CONSISTENCY, PATIENCE, AND EXPERIENCE, NOT TO MENTION THAT YOU CAN'T GO ON TILT. EVER.
at 2nl 6max, you should be wondering 2 things:
1: What am I doing wrong that's keeping me below 15? 20? 25?
- and more importantly -
2: Why the .F.U.CK am I not moving up stakes? (seriously bro move up to 5nl or 10nl at the very least, you've got the winnings to do it with)
gl man.
