Okay your in Late position and you simple open the raise to your 2.5bb or 3bb and which looks like a standard fold the BB ruins the party and decides he's not going down without a fight and 3bets us.

We look down and see AJs... Both effective stackes are 100bb

Could we 4bet this thief because it's our precious we saw it first? Or should we just let it go.

I understand SB normally from TAGS, solid ABC players it's normally representing what it is and that's JJ+ and in some cases only where diamonds come from their poker seats KK+

What factors should we take into consideration before 4betting against this guy?

Does Axs/kxs play better than awkward pairs?

Only if he 3bets wide vs steals... otherwise you are crushed here and can't 4bet profitably. Basically your BTN raise is for value but a 4bet would be bluff. I would 4bet or fold here most of the time just because I dislike flatting.

That said, you can actually (borderline) flat AJs - if A falls you can float flop and see what happens (KK-JJ likely don't double barrel) and if you bink a flush draw then it may pay handsomely.

If flop is J high it is tricky but you might be ahead of AQ-AK and can call flop and see what happens.

Look at what his Fold to steal and what his 3-bet % are. Either fold or 4-bet from there.

Yeah... It's a tough spot. It depends on the villain, but you're going to be behind most of the time. Of course, take a look at his stats. It's a losing play in the long run to chase nut flushes with the hand at 100BB deep, so it kind of boils down to two options: to 4-bet or fold. I would really hate 4-betting here at 5NL because it would only work against LAGs. Solid TAGs will be doing it with a reasonably strong range and fishes aren't folding better hands like AQ and JJ.

Yes but AJs won't get paid against a weak range unless he's a fish chasing a low end flush.

So a tight guy could have value since he'll pay you off, like the guy said above % to fold could play for being paid off here... Or looking to get a fold for a cheap pot
