if just starting out, you have the most chance of loosing everything regardless of how much you start with,, just being honest

Everything depends on the limits on which you are going to play. Read about bankroll management.:icon_stud

You won't win in the begining of you never played cash before and looking to learn. I'd sugest you start at the lowest limit possible (2nl probably) even If You afford higher so you can learn cheaper at least.
I'd play with around 50bi at the lowest limit ($100 for 2nl) cause there is nothing lower in stakes where i can move down when i lose.
Good luck

If you're a beginner, before you start playing real money, my advice for you would be to follow the poker school classes. I think that will help you in your decisions.

If you have not played for money, you start with freerolls. If you have practice in online poker, then you need to start at the limits where you will not feel sorry for losing, only then you will not have fear and that will not interfere with your game.

Before playing for money you should play freerolls or start with sit n go with low byin for ex: 1 cent with tables of 10 players in 888 poker have this option and gradually when you feel that this improving start with sin n go 10c after 40c, 50c you can start cash games with buin from 0.25 onwards would be a good option

try to win 2 or 3 freerolls, then play 1$ and try to multiply it = short-stack strategy :vroam:

Well have you made a deceision on the level you intend to make you try at first? That's like a have to know before your first question can be answered. I have a question that I would like an honest answer to. Do to believe you can go in new and be a winning player without any experience at a poker table? Do you know the basic hands of poker now? What did you mean about winning more by playing tight to start with? In my opinion, you should make a plan of what you need to learn to reach a short term goal of knowing the answer to your own question, like asking some more questions on this subject, and take the advice and opinions to 2nl cash, if cash is what you want to try first, and play with only what you have been told, and stay focused on only playing tight, and if you lose a $2 buyin, leave and start over asking questions, and telling those giving the advice what you think is good with your play, and what you think is bad about it. Tell a short about what happen that caused you to lose your $2 buyin playing tight only.

You may think I'm joking or just being an ass, but I can't sugar coat, and give you some positive and let you think you can win a penny without the know how you get with study time off and on the tables. And that starting plan I gave you a starting point, which is a hard thing pick alone, can be your's if you want it, but starting points can be made up of just about anything because the whole idea is to get you started learning by asking questions for the advice you need to know that will answer your own questions in your mind. That's what sticks and you use what works for you over and over. And that's the first part of your game made up of skills, learned by you, excepted as good by you, and nothing like another player's.

Learning the game can't be done in a short time. It's a long term, even never ending, have to do if you want to be a winning player during your playing experience. So this is the time to make up your mind what you will do.

I would skip the freerolls, drop $60 down to play $2 NL. BEFORE starting play you should watch some youtube series on micro cash games. They are free and very helpful especially for a beginner. Use this for your bankroll management and get a PT4 or HEM trial and then buy the one you like best.

There is a free promotion running on 888 if you want to try there before depositing. My advice would be to start with around $100usd and play only the $0.01/$0.02 tables until you become comfortable and can win at those stakes

Unfortunately, there is a lot of money it is necessary to spend before you learn to play poker. It is twice more as you will begin to win something)) Good luck)

start by playing virtually by reading the hands posted in the the cash game analysis subforum .Put a card over the screen and move it down bit by bit , write down what your action would be preflop , flop turn river etc .....see how the poster played it , do you agree with his actions or disagree, then read the feedback/advice that is given . once you are starting to get your actions replicating the advice given look to start playing 2nl. post your own questions about advice that is given that you don't understand ( qualiy it by saying you are a new player ) and you are likely to get a deeper explanation rather than people assuming you know what a lot of terms / concepts , strategies are .This way your mistakes ( there will be lots of them) won't cost you money , and your play is likely to at least break even or slowly profit until you can start posting your own hands and getting feedback.

The people who are profitable virtually all post hands and get feedback , consider it and then implement the advice that makes sense. Then they reevaluate to see whether it is working for them.

Does it have to be cashgame?

I would not suggest to start with cashgames, for multiple reasons - one is, you can play turneys for a couple cents, 10cent sit&go / tourneys. You will also play way more hands, experience more diverse situations which will force you to learn the game, 10cent compared to 1$ for a cashgame , if you loose the dollar its a huge demotivation. Nice side effect, youll get the thrill you dont get in a cashgame.

Start with 5 bucks, play 10 cent games - will keep you busy for a few days, best practice in my opinion. (im not a fan to suggest playmoney thus i suggest the lowest possible amount, people play entirely different even for cents)

The first investiment for a noob player should be the knowledge, Learn to play through some choaching or through freerolls. Avoid to put money to spend because in all game levels there are players studying to move up for higher levels, you need to find players which they will lost chips for you.
