If you only have $25 to spare every week would you start by playing .01/.02 and try to build a bank roll to 20 buy in for .02/.05 and than build to 20 buy ins for .05/.10 and so on or would you build 40 buy ins to move up how would you guys do this and has anyone had success doing this thanks

I would start out with some $1 SNG's and build my bankroll to $50 or $100 than move up to $3 SNGs and build up to $300 to $400 than I would move to $5 SNGs and build up to $500 to $600 and then you'll have a nice bankroll to play with. Than you can start playing your cash games as you wish with proper bankroll management of course that way you will never have to rebuy ever again.

If you have $25 to spare every week. I would play freerolls and set aside the $25 each week. When you have $200 saved up, take advantage of the deposit bonus. Then you will have a good starting bankroll for .01/.02 or min entry tournaments.

I agree with the guy regarding deposit bonus, better to save up and maximize the free money. And who knows, you could hit in a freeroll and then a money game to get a small bankroll started.

optimistic strategy.
probably you play great, but to give such radical advice, probably not worth it.

cash may not be the best way to build a bankroll for a new player. SNG yes! but you need at least 100 buy-ins per limit, which means play $ 0.25

In my opinion, in order for you to play at least 100$, or just build your bankroll with 0 - freerolls...

the micro stakes I have found to be quite lucrative as people definitely over-value one pair hands like no other

25 you can play freerolls or micro limits in any case before raising the level you have to have at least 100 buy-in. if you do not want to play cash you can try the spin and go

I quite often play in the time tourneys on pokerstars, usually the 15 minute ones that range from £1.10-$4.40 buy ins, and you get a share of the prize money if you still remain in the tournament after the time is up. Higher you are in the chip count a better share of the pot you receive.
This morning alone, I played in a $4.40 buy in, 15 minute tournament. Placed 21st out of the remaining players (which I can't find how many were remaining and don't know if you can) and won $13.73. Then I played in a $2.20 buy in and placed 8th and won $12.40. If you want to build your pot up quickly, and don't mind small payouts then aslong as you remain in the tournaments at a decent position you'll progress up.

when i first started id just put 25-50 and played .50-$1 6max sngs and have run it up to ~120...and if i blew it then just took a break for a few weeks and deposit another 25..its a decent starting out amount to get some feelers of how the online game works to see if its worth a bigger deposit..

but its really just a fun/rec amount...if you can literally only spend $25 then thats a bit different..id do what another poster said and just save it up and play freerolls..although the bonuses are a pretty heavy grind to aquire on some sites.

first night playing on william hill i binked a 80k freeroll for ~$20 and had fun in the $20 50/50's all night and brought the roll to ~120...<<horrible BR management i know, and do not recommend it for serious play..but i was just having fun..just depends what you want out of poker really..gl brotha!

I would play $1 or $3 sit n gos. And/or $1-$2 tournaments. If you're a decent player, you should be able to build a bank roll. Reward yourself with an occasional $5-$10 tournament if you're doing really well.

Cash games are where you can build your money.

But if you are a more "sit n go" type guy, then play the $1.50 buy in ones, I mean you'd have to go on a hell of a losing streak to go broke, lol.

You can play a week of free rolls and deposit $50 to play 2nl cash games 6 max or full ring. That would be plenty if your able to beat those games usually. And then take 4 or 5 buy in shots at other stakes when you have enough. So at $120 you can have a $40 shot at 4nl or 5nl and at $250 you can have a $50 shot at 10nl and so on.If the shot doesnt work drop back down with your 20 buy ins and rebuild. But it depends what your comfort zone is you might prefer a little larger buffer.

Agree with the person who talked about saving up and getting a good bonus. For me, playing $0.01/0.02 is boring. I recommend tournaments where you at least have a chance of a decent score. If you can deposit $25 a week, your risk of ruin isn't crucial... at worst, you're back in it next week again.

Do not rush to the rise of the limits, nl10 is not nl2. To determine your level you need to play a lot of hands before you can continue with confidence. Statistical analysis will also help determine how much luck has affected the outcome of the game. It is necessary to determine not only the upper limit for the transition, but also the lower one for retreat.
