Hey Card Chatters

I just started playing poker again after a three year break. I used to pay 100nl, now a want to start playing again, I have membership at Card Runners, Deusescracked and just installed HEM, and I plan to play about 30 k hands.
I currently play iPoker, I know the games are a lot tougher now. Do you guys have any suggestions about a better (softer) site to start playing at?
What is the major difference playing poker in 2008 vs. 2011 at micro/low stakes?
Any feedback posts are appreciated.
If there is any serious players from 10nl – 50nl, that are interested in discussing poker I a Skype study group send me a PM.

/Cheers

Glad to have you around.

As far as I know poker has changed massively since you've been away from the game. 100nl definitely isn't the same any more, everyone has improved. Since BF pokerstars has become a lot softer so you can try there, it's the biggest and no Americans that actually know how to play poker are there any more.

There's a Skype group where some serious discussion goes on, I'm not in it any more because I can't seem to get Skype working on my laptop lol. I'm sure someone will pop in and pm you soon, if not, post in the chat thread and you'll get a reply about it.

Stick around, start some threads and pop over to the Hand Analysis section. We can always use more people talking about the game. Good luck.

Thank you for the information, I am just getting acquainted with the forum, there is a lot of interesting discussions going on.
I agree the games is a lot tougher, I used to be able to make a decent BB hr playing a taggish style multitabling 100nl and 200nl that is not possible anymore.
But I am very rusty atm and definitely need to improve my game and get used to the tougher opponents.
I will try to post some of my more interesting hands in the hand analysis section.

Maybe its a good idea to start off lower than 100NL if you are a bit rusty and the competition has got tougher. Good luck to you

It's not me who runs it, but I'm sure everyone will be happy to see you join our Skype group. Add me (Cafeman31) if you're interested (I'm a struggling - but improving! - 50NL 6max player), and I'm sure I can get one of the guys to add you into the group.

You are going to want to do a lot of studying on todays games, so your training site memberships and you HEM purchases will come in handy. Make sure you watch the most recent strategy videos from CR and DC. Also, when you have a large enough sample size (50k hands), take a look at the Leak Buster App in HEM. It's up to date with how winning players play and will point out spots where you are losing money.

Good luck.

You seem to have a very sensible approach.

Definitely worth dropping stakes, at least for a while.

Thanks you for your answers guys.
CR and DC is great, they have helped me improve my game very much in the past and HEM is an invaluable tool, thank you for the leak buster tip.

Welcome back to poker. The players now are a lot more aggressive than they were in 2008. Test the waters out. Good luck!
