Full stacking 5nl, half stacking is just wasting money if you're good at poker. I'd advise you to never play half stacked but im pretty biased because i hate them short stacking ****s.

There are probably some exceptions, but in most cases, it's better to full-stack at the lower level. The overall quality of the opponents rates to be at least a little lower, and you give yourself the maximum opportunity to profit from their poor plays and errors.

Plus short-stacking successfully involves making changes in your play style. At these levels, you're better served to stick with improving your game in the ways you need to rather than forcing yourself to make even more changes unnecessarily.

Generally I like to play for 100bb or deeper in cash games, but playing 50bb is easier. Your commitment decisions rarely require deep thinking. ABC poker works very well with a half stack. You can profitably get all in with a slightly weaker range. You get called when you 3bet an amount that is leading to an all in on or before the flop with good hands. Plus tournament players can transition to cash easier by keeping their buy ins small enough to simulate mid stages tournament play - which they should be fairly good at.
