Well, for those who dont know what SSS is, can you at least tell us? Instead of keeping it a 'SSSecret' between you and those that do?

Well you're making progress. Now that you've spelled it out, the next step is to spell it correctly.

[ ] A strategy that includes a lot of thinking, decision making, and is great for the game of poker.

[x] Absolute garbage and horrible for the game of poker.

[x] If WVHillbilly sees this thread he will take a dump in it.

OP, short stacking is a frequent topic of discussion for cash game regs, and a huge sore point. The only reason we enjoy seeing posts on it is to see WVHillbilly explode. ;)

There was a long discussion last summer on the topic here: https://www.cardschat.com/forum/cash-games-11/ring-why-do-people-not-like-156068/

It's a long thread and you have to wade through some testy posts, but there are several good discussions of the strategy throughout the thread.

[ ] Mod realizes this is a 2year old thread.

[x] Mod tries in vain to make sense in a senseless thread.

[x] Eagerly awaiting WVH arival.

lulz, hate it when an old thread gets revived and I respond. Giggle factor is high though when WV comes around... ;)

I'm predicting a few more months at most and both FTP and Stars will be rid of shortstackers. FTP already is and Stars is already trying 35bb min with their Euro tables. I'm declaring it a national holiday when that day comes :)

I don't know why everyone is so eagerly awaiting me posting in this thread.

People, no, not people, ****holes who play SSS are are horrible, good for nothing, POSs who ruin the game of poker. The best of them barely win and they do that at the expense of their everloving soul. If you want more info on it try googling "Best Ways to Kill Yourself" and follow those directions.

Actualy Sly, i think that post from WVH is more restrained and less confrontational then most of his posts on the POSSS subject ;).

Cant wait for the awsomeness that will be when PS kills the SS in a few month.

Actually my hatred has mellowed considerably since FTP went to 35bb min BIs (before that I would have personally suggested the method you should use to off yourself and offered assistance). It's really nice to be able to take just about any seat at any table without worrying about 4 or 5 of these POSSS (I like that Sindri) being there.

Yeah, any of us who play in cap games or short stack games which I do frequently know of short stack strategy. It depends on how short stacked you are, but in general play is very simplified. If you're playing with 30BB you should have no problem getting it in with AK, probably AQ and pocket pairs TT+. It might also make sense to get it in with lower pocket pairs if you put the other guy on two overs. It's a high variance game and you'll see a lot of these toss ups between PP and AK, AQ - but you shouldn't really limp much and it's often a game of raising and re-raising and hoping you can get it in ahead of your opponent.
