This time last month I was struggling to win a freeroll so I can have a bankroll. I played many tourneys and no success. Finally at the end of October I was fortunate enough to finally cash in a freebie. I was sure if I could keep my head and use proper bankroll management, I could get my bank to a comfortable amount.

Well I have been doing really well in November. I have cashed more in November than all of this year. Most wins I have achieved thus far are less than $30, but they add up. X

I think I had to come to terms with a few things:
  1. Poker will not make me rich over night
  2. Some people are luckier than others
  3. Take a break when you are running bad or change games
  4. Read, Read, Practice, then Read some more
  5. Don't be afraid to lose
  6. Don't get cocky when you win
  7. Know your skill level and stick with that level till you are sure you are ready for another level
  8. Don't make poker your #1 priority, even if you are a pro, make time for family and friends
  9. Patience is a virtue
  10. You can lead a donkey to the river, but you cannot make them fold

Number 5 is the best one on there for me. If you are ever scared of losing in poker, then 1 you are in to high of a limit, or 2 you shouldn't be betting at all. Scared money is lost money.

Reading...and reading some more!

Very well said...the one part of my game that has helped build my bankroll is reading up on table position! Now...acting last does not guarrentee a win ...but in the long run it can save you a whole lot of chips! I used to throw out a bet no matter where I was sitting, just to fall victim a raisee and a reraise...now I like to wait till I have the table advantage...even if I don't bet, I've atleast saved myself part of chip stack that probably would have gone to the oppenent who reraised the raiser. So yes patience is a virtue in poker!:icon_sant :icon_bigs :icon_sant
