So it's "funny" when you do it but you don't like it when someone else does it to you? Sorry, but you're not going to get any sympathy from me if that's your attitude.

Even if you're playing against a total jerk, slow rolling is just classless. I put it right up there in rudeness with betting the EXACT size of a shorter stack heads-up. But it's still something you see all the time, and it's just a joke to see some of the justifications for it ("oh, I was figuring out how to play the hand," "I wasn't sure if my [aces full] was good").

sorry...I agree with E-dub here. It's funny when you do it, but get mad when some else does it and they are an idiot? all I can say is that's hypocritical in my opinion. regardless...those guys will always be at the tables, always! You just have to accept it and move on, people will be who they are. you can't hate someone for having cancer, right? I say just let it go and try to remember the golden rule in the future. "Do unto others as you would have done unto yourself"

I have to say that I have been done that way quite often myself and I dont find anything funny about it at all especially when they have a smart comment or a stupid one to say afterwards but I just always try to shrug it off and go on because the last thing you want to do is play poker mad and end up on tilt .

It's a totally classless thing to do and I have never done it. I have however seen it done once on TV ( by mistake ), and the "pro's" got really angry about it. You should be happy you have the nuts, if you get a kick from slow rolling your opponant, you should find another game to play.

I got slow rolled twice yesterday :/ First time in ages and it happened twice in one day. Its not funny at all...its completely disrespectful. Sometimes i accidentally slow roll when im playing o8...but its sort of understandable in that game...confusing as hell from time to time.

I agree with everyone, slow-rolling is a horrible breach of etiquette and should never be done. However...

I put it right up there in rudeness with betting the EXACT size of a shorter stack heads-up.

There is absolutely nothing rude about doing this. If this affects your mindset or your play, then it's something you need to work on.

been accused of it

I was playing live last Saturday and I flopped a straight with two hearts on board. I made a pot sized bet and the short stacked called. turn is another heart and the short stack checked and I took some time to think about what to do and bet into him for the rest of his chips.

He called and my straight won and one of the other players said I totally slow rolled the guy. It was not my intent nor did I even know what that term meant until now.

I would do it to a complete azz. You know who I mean. The guy who types a ton of stuff in the chat that you know good and well that he would never dream of saying to you if you were playing live, but has the internet muscles to say whatever he wants. I'll slowroll him if I ever get the rare chance.

The other player is an idiot. You did nothing of the sort.

Slowroll

Yeh karma is a bitch!!!!!
Sometimes thinking about tight hand is misconstrued as SR.
Actually I cannot invest any emotion into it one way or the other. Next hand is coming!!

[I comment that I think it's rude to bet someone's exact stack size when you have them covered and are heads-up.]

There is absolutely nothing rude about doing this. If this affects your mindset or your play, then it's something you need to work on.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this issue. Let me reiterate though that I think it's rude only in a heads-up situation. I really don't have a problem with it in a multi-way pot.

My point was that online it's unnecessary when you are heads-up because you can see your opponent's total amount of chips right in front of you. You know immediately that you have them covered. It's a much different scenario than in a live game, where it can be much harder to tell if you have someone covered and therefore you ask for a count. And I have never, ever, seen a player in a legitimate live game ask for a count, get it, and then bet his opponent's exact stack size. It's always "I put you all in" or just "I'm all in." Maybe I'm just too old-school.

I will say that I agree with you that it's up to me to not let it affect my mindset or play. Fortunately for me, it dosen't.

You're totally right about live play. It would be completely rude in a live game to ask for a count and then bet that exact amount. You're also right that in online play, it's unnecessary. You conclude that unnecessary equals rudeness. In my opinion, because either going all-in or betting your opponent's exact stack doesn't slow the game down, this is just a possible psychological play. I use both means of betting with both strong and weak hands, and mix up my play. If it affects my opponent's play, then that's one more advantage I get over him.

I'm totally cool with disagreeing about it. In fact, I appreciate your civil response. It's much nicer than the usual internet vitriol you can get when someone disagrees with you.

And thank you for your civil, reasoned response. I still disagree with your position, but you took the time to explain it instead of spouting the usual "HEY BRO IF U DON'T LIKE HOW I PLAY GO HIT THE .02/.04 LIMIT TABLES, CUZ IT'S CLEAR THAT I PWN YOU SON" crap.

Hope to see you at a table soon.
