Ok- your mid pockets mad a set on the flop. Table is playing mildly aggressive. "Harrington on Hold'em" talks about slow playing here (I usually do). On TV I'm hearing alot of the pros saying to get your money in up front on them. Now if the board shows a flush draw I do try to deny opponets the odds to call. I'm just rambling here, I was just wondering how others played in this situation.

I guess it depends on how vulnerable your hand is.. and how the action goes preflop. If you have 9s9h and play in a raised pot and the flop comes AdKd9c You're going to want to put your money in asap. You could be against a number of hands with a decent redraw on you and your hand is somewhat vulnerable. If you allow a hand like AK to catch up... you're probably losing all your money, as an A or K gives them a much bigger boat, or if another diamond comes you're also in trouble...

Slow playing is always dangerous, but is usually only viable when the board is NOT very cooridinated, or you have the nuts.... slow playing anything but the nuts is extremely risky.

Slow play = bad. But if there is no possible straight or flush, you can sometimes get away with it. I would only usually do it with the nut fullhouse or quads. Slowplaying is really just letting the opponent get a cheap or free card. Bad news usually and when they hit their hand to beat you, you will surely think twice about doing it again. =p

Edit: didnt see Styro's post when I wrote that. ^^^ agree with him...

I can't remember who it was, but someone had in their signature a quote saying " Flop a set big arse bet " great advice IMO.
