I'm curious to know everyones policy for showing their hand.

With my style of play and playing a lot of cash games. Particularly 1/3 NL with a 500 max buy in, and my style of play, I have been doing well with showing hands when I have a good hand a pretty good idea that I know I have the player beat… It makes situations in the future easier to bluff opponents..

Thoughts?

Here is a similar thread that was started up, not too long ago.

I have noticed in a lot of videos that players will show the hand that they folded in order to encourage their opponent to show their hand, in return. It is usually in situations where the player feels that they were beat, and they want to confirm this inclination, as well as gain general information about their opponent's play.

well... i thi k it is opponent dependent. when he makes a tough laydown don't show a winning hand to keep him guessing, but maybe showa bluff to irritate.

Showing your hand gives the other players info, some say to never show. Sometimes I like to show when I am bluffing though, hoping to tilt the other player in live play. I don't like showing when I have a made hand and opponent folds, because then your just showing them they played correctly.

Usually online I just have auto-muck selected.

I do not think it's a good idea! Featuring hand you give information about yourself to the opponents. But online poker is that good, and that the enemy does not know anything about you. He does not see the expression on your face, can not see your emotions. Because of this, it is more difficult to calculate your style of play. But this is my personal opinion.

Tournaments I like to show down a few times, it helps to steal the blinds pre flop in the intermediate stage, but in cash games I do not like to show no showdown, because the more bleff seem more chips you will extract

Sometimes its good to advertise our hand but dont do it often.

Giving much info to our opponents is such a disaster.

I prefer totally not to show my hand.

you can do two things.

1) play tight as hell. then find a spot & only bluff once, then if u get away with it, you can show the table. then call everyone donks, and they will be mad and think YOUR the donk. next time u raise, haha. noone believes you & u make $$$.

or

2) never show. ever !! even if u only show once before you leave a table after 10 hours of playing ... people remember who you are and what cards you play. You may as well show them your ****

Yeah I have seen this strategy a few times (i'm a tourney player). I think against a good player it doesnt help, moreover they can guess when u bluffed, but at a table with weak players it can work...
The only devastating thing for the opponents' moral is when you always win at showdowns... :p

I never show automatically, but when you want to pull the opponents brain, you can go all-in or raise a big, and show them what poor cards you have, and maybe they will call, when you have a good hand, and underestimate you. This tactic can be good when you play freerolls with little prize pool. This is fun! :D

99.99% of the time I'm not showing. Far too many negatives than positives for me.

You only show to mislead.
Its usually a loose player showing that he has the nuts.

I never show a bluff. I might show a winning hand, if my opponent shows what they laid down. For the most part though, if a hand goes to the river, then you have to pay to see it. I might also show in those spots where someone goes all-in, or makes some kind of outrageous sized 3-bet over my raise in a spot where I'm holding a decent hand, but might not be willing to risk my tournament life on two cards at that time. Then I might show just to let them know that I'm not raising light and also as a warning that they should not continue pressing their luck against me.

I do not think that show is a good idea because you'll end up giving information to the opponent

If you show you are giving your opponent extra information on you that they would not normally have, so I think it is a poor choice.
If you thought you could put a player on tilt to make a situation profitable by showing hands, is that ethical?

Very rarely I show my cards whether it is a cash game or tourney. I don't think it helps in any way.

This option is turned off on my client. Dont like to show my hand. When I start to play poker i did it sometimes when I had good hand and it was usefull when I bluff.
So I bluffed often. But now i dont like to bluff.
it s good to show a bluff..it will make other players to pay you when you have good cards
It seems interesting. Didnt think about showing my hands this way.

I think it hurts people more than they realize. You may think you have every aspect of your game in check. But, if you have any bet sizing issues or tendencies, showing your hand just helps your opponents bring together more pieces of the puzzle.
