Im not trying to look arrogant or ignorant but I Love watching myself improve my game and I hate it when i cant do it because im not rolled.
It's just whether you're prepared to lose more money in expense for learning more quickly.
A new player who spends 2 months playing 2nl and 5nl will almost certainly be poorer than a player who starts at 10nl. (im being general here, inb4 someone nit picks and says everyones different etc) But the 10nl player might bust their $300 roll, wheres the 2/5nler might bust a $40-100 roll a couple of times and still not lose as much.
I dont buy into "you have to beat every stake" to move up. Its the micros man, all about improving and don't forget about your mental game. It is as important if not more important than your skill level. Tilt is what ruins a huge number of micro players.
