I am wondering if I should have been more aggressive during this hand and bet on the river? Or did I play it right by checking especially with the river pairing with the board?

Personally I would have been more aggressive preflop, something a like 3bet of 12BB, you have KK so more than likely you have the best hand. It looks like villain here is pretty tight so I'd say probably sitting on some overpair, a suited A with a high kicker or a AK, AQ KQ offsuit combo and you don't want him to see any cards and make a hand without paying for it first, the 3 bet would help with that. Looks like a standard value bet (2/3 pot) on the flop but assuming the range I thought pre-flop he might have a straight draw but thats about it, I would assume a larger bet for a set/two pair or even a check-raise given the high cards so I would still be comfortable raising, even just slightly to see what they do (could be thinking you have a draw and fold). The turn helps both of you if you think he might be on a straight/straight draw but doesn't help with the hands we might think he has, and it looks like his bet goes down so that's either showing some weakness or he's not sticking to standard betting patterns. Finally the check on the river shows he really doesn't have anything (would have bet with a straight/quad J's/set J's) so I would have bet at least 1/2 pot here to put the pressure here and get some more chips knowing you probably win with 2 pair, which you did. I still think you played it great but that's just my opinion hope it helps!

I would say a little more aggressive to start pre flop. Most likely will appear that you are real strong and protect you from the chasers
