On a losing streak of about 3 months in live MTTs. Haven't cashed in any of them. Get to final 2 tables them I get a bad beat or make a stupid move that I kick myself for later.
Should I take a break from MTTs & give the 1/2NL or 2/4NL live cash tables a try? I don't have a huge bankroll or anything so I am not going buck wild. :D
I don't play online for real money. I play live. :)

Most likely you're a fish. So play whatever gives you the most fun for the money you spend. And don's spend more that you can afford.

Fun is subjective, so try it out and figure out if you're rather lose at MTTs or lose at cash games. IMO, cash games is more fun as people are more relaxed by not having to leave the table if they lose their stack, and you can stand up at any time if you're rather play something else. But MTT losses are easier to budget. You do need some discipline at a cash table to not tilt rebuy more than you can afford.

Thanks for starting with an insult.

Maybe compulsive & degenerate gamblers do, but I'm not either of those.

Thanks for starting with an insult.

It's not an insult. Most poker players are fishes. There's no shame whatsoever in being a fish. I'm a fish at most poker games, although I'm a big enough fish at 1/2 live to be able to eat the smaller ones there.

Choosing between mtt and cash is really a choice you should make based on the entertainment value. I hate playing mtts and I love playing cash, so there's no doubt whatsoever for me, even if I was profitable at mtts and a loser at cash.

Aside from the entertainment, cash games have significantly less variance than MTTs, so you'll be able to figure out reasonably soon if you're winning at those games or not. Just be aware that cash and mtt strategy differ considerably. If you're not used to play 100 big blinds deep or more, you're in for a lot of learning before you can start earning.

No one is perfect. We all make errors at some point. It's not like I make the same mistake over & over. If I did, I'd call myself an idiot & quit. :D
The other times it's a bad beat. Recently I had an Ace high straight on the turn. I get sent packing b/c the other guy gets his flush on the river.

You should definitely give cash games a try. I prefer cash over tournament anyday.

The only times I believe in bad beats is when there is a jackpot attached to it other then that it most likely you just didn't see the flush or seem that they might of been draw to one...sometimes it's just hard to lay it down

I do much better playing 3/6 live then these damn online tourneys... And I refuse to sit in rings at that level as I have trust issue with the online software...Good Luck

First of all starting a post with "most likely youre a fish" is not going to give you smiles and an ear. Try that in a casino and you wouldnt get the best of reactions.
I too am strictly an MTT player but force myself to play cash because I know it will eventually strengthen my game. I dont like it and it makes me nervous because of the rapid decline in ones bankroll. MTTs offer the lowest risk for the higher results. So the key is building your Bankroll.
There are many ways to do that and the forum offer solutions. Also go back and compile stats and figure if you did have a 3 month downswing and by how much. Off times when things are looking bad I go back and take a look and realize its not that bad. I might have a 20% downswing but the 3 months before I had a 50% upswing.
Read a good cash game book. I just read Jeff Hwangs PLO book and it helped my game tremendously. Cash games are not fun in the parks. It is serious business and needs focus and control. Also why not play online? You can play a lot of cash games and get experience at lower buy ins.

Not even close to a "bad beat". What was your stack size? Was villains stack size so big he could take the hit. How much was in the pot? What were the odds. How many outs did villain have? i.e. Did he have top 2 pair to go along with flush draw and a possible straight draw? Stop thinking bad beats. If you play poker long enough you will get beat in every imaginable way you can. But you too will suck out as well. Just get it in with the best and hope you get rewarded.

All he had was the flush draw. I went all in on the turn & he called. I don't remember anymore than that.
I already know shit happens. That's not the 1st & not the last. I'm not a retard.

I play on LOCK and Bovada every day. And last I looked California was in the US.
How long does it take to get your money? They accept a US based CC without issue? I looked at Bovada & their fees for your payout are insane. $40 on $100?!

Not true. First payout free per month. After that fee. Call their support you can speak to someone live.
I also play on LOCK because Rizen is a working pro there and makes sure poker players issues get taken care of. He has sped up the payouts. For a $100 deposit I have been able to play and experiment and built up my BR 5 fold. I also won seats to live tournaments. $2500 for the wsop and circuitously won a seat to the $10K Ceasars event and came in 25th and won $17,700.

You gotta stop taking things so personal in poker. No one says youre a retard. But I question your remark with "I dont remember anymore than that". If you want to become better you have to make every decision on the facts you know. Facts that you use in the future. So as a poker player you have to have great memory.
Now if the pot was 10,000 and you went all in for 2000 I might feel Im getting a good price to call. Or if there was 10,000 in the pot and you shoved for 10,000 and I got 150,000 behind I might feel lucky and gamble particularly if you got a bounty on you or if I bust you I get to FT.
It useless to say the guy sucked out on me but to keep these facts about your game always in your mind. All in all you did the right thing by getting villain to give it up after the turn but you just got beat.

Try playing cash. You do not have to deal with the pressure of rising blinds. Just sit back, wait for your spots and rake in their money.

As I've stated before, I suck at cash games. But I'm trying to change this by playing micro stakes at Bovada. Doing ok so far.. At least at Bovada the other players can't tell that I'm a fish because they tagged me at another table or at another session.
