Short handed no-limit comes pretty easy to me. Raise raise raise, aggression aggression aggression. With the ability to force anyone out of the pot for the right price, and the ability to back down to a decent read and a play over the top.....1/2NL (B&M casino here) comes pretty easy...

lately, i've trying my hand at 3/6 limit.... playing a full table is easy. Just play SUPER tight, and play aggressive (3/6 limit plays a lot like .01 / .02 limit online lol) with everyone calling everything...

But shorthanded, the blinds are coming by too fast...trying to play aggressive is harder because you have nothing. Short handed you have to loosen up your hand selection... but i have a VERY hard time winning short handed...

any help would be appreciated...

I had about $70 stuck on pokerstars (shortly after neteller withdrew from US) no way to get it out so I decided to just play some Limit so I started at $.50/$1 6max, just enough to cover a couple of buyins. Within 3 days I was sitting on $600 2 days later I was back down to $100. I was mixing it up with $0.50/$1 and $1/$2. I was never following proper bankroll management but I think that even the 300BB rule is probably not enough playing 6 handed limit

You are going to see alot more rivers and you are going to get alot more suck outs... for instance it is common for people to call you with backdoor flush draw, I have no idea why but they do. They'll pick up their flush draw on the turn sometimes then cap it. For instance one hand I had pocket aces and a guy capped it preflop with J6 suited. He capped it on the flop with only a backdoor flushdraw (just one spade) and then the Ace of spades came on the turn so there was some capping again and then his final spade hit the river and there was another cap, I had no reason to suspect his flush. Things like that can get you steaming too.

People will just play and jam the pot hoping to get lucky by the river. They show no skill and rely on luck to win. When you are on the negative side of the swings you can go broke pretty quick. But make nice profits just as fast when you're on the positive side.

Sorry no advice from me just sharing my frustrations :)

i played $3/6 SHLHE for a while until i withdrew most of my BR, but fpaul is way more qualified to answer this than me. i was just really aggresive. showdown range reads helped me the most. also how people play draws, and what they slowplay, etc.

just paying attention to the table hlped me the most.

Not really sure what kind of advice or tips you're looking for. In general, most people bluff too much - you shouldn't. Learn when a missed AK is a hand that you bet for value on the river. Checkraise the preflop raiser. A lot.

Don't checkraise bluff the turn very often. It's a really, really expensive way to win a small pot.

If you have pokertracker, we could perhaps look at your stats to get some entry point for discussion. Otherwise, you could just post hands that you feel you're not entirely sure about. :)

Was this on Fulltilt?

I havent tried much $3/$6 online but its what I always play at the casino. I always take $150 with me and am usually able to double up within 6 to 8 hours. The players are generally more loose there than they are online. One lady commented on how tight I played but still paid me off everytime, lol. Best part is no one hardly raises unless they have AA - TT and don't see an AK raise all that much. So it's easy to read the table and I get a lot of cheap flops with drawing hands like KQs, JTs etc. Plus with atleast 5 to 6 players to flop most of the time, the pot odds are great.
