What are the difference between the 1000NL game and 100NL games ?I been grinding the 100NL games with a win rate of 2bb/100 over 50 k hands. I am thinking of putting in a big deposit and jump straight to 1000 NL to earn more. Any opinions, critism and advice is welcome. Also, for people who have grinded from NL100 - NL 1000, kindly share your experiences from each stake. I play short handed.

Let me get this straight... You've played 100NL for 50k hands but you have no clue what it means to be good post-flop or how to recognize a good player from a weak one?

Level?

I know a good player when i see one.But someone good to me might be bad to others and vice versa. Honestly its hard for me to call someone "good".For me everyone just have different play styles. Thus the confusion. Well, all these questions came to mind when i made the decision to jump stakes.People say theres big skill difference..etc but i keep asking myself "How much better can they possibly be?" =P

I am hoping someone can answer my question.Or at least enlighten me on what should i expect from the "much better" players at higher limit.

Don't deposit, grind your way up. More likely, you should move down but you won't.

People who will put you to tough decisions constantly and be balanced in spots you don't expect them to be and exploit you where you can be exploited.

Uhh this sums it up pretty nicely. The jump from 600-1000 alone is daunting enough, let alone jumping from 100-1000. That's like being good at tiddly winks and thinking of going for the gold medal in the 100m dash in the olympics right away.

The original plan was to grind up slowly but i encounted some very annoying patterns.I find that at NL100 people are mostly nitty and dont give much action. So if i were to climb up, i will need to literally grind and wait to cooler someone everyday. My play style creates alot of action so i end up taking down alot of small to medium pots, and the only time someone will play a big pot with me is all in preflop when i have Kings only to run into aces, or if its a cooler hand (set vs set, flush vs flush..etc) and i either lose a big chunk of my profits or make a huge session.

I noticed that the higher i go, the more action players are willing to give. That creates big winning sessions but i believe losing sessions will be just as great(not sure yet). I played for a few hundred hands and i found players willing to get it all in with me preflop as wide as 88 in BVB situations and its very possible to induce big bluffs from them like getting them to 4 bet you light preflop or shove light post flop . I tried 50NL heads up to some success (15 bb/100 over 7k hands) but i find i cant play long because people leave the table either when they are down too much or when they just won a big pot from you.

Opinions? And is my observation correct that higher limit players are willing to give more action?

Assuming most players at either 100 or 1000 will be at min, reasonably good, we are left with the fact that as the stakes get bigger, so must your balls..........

So go buy a bigger wheelbarrel.;)

I mean if you have $50k or so to just piss away, go for it. Because you will.

This is like watching "Rounders" and seeing the guy willing to put his whole bankroll on the line in one game because he 5-bet bluffed Johnny Chan one hand.

LOL rounders was an awesome movie..i should watch it again..maybe it will help me with my decision =D. I dont want to end up like the guy in the movie though...when his full house got crushed and he lost everything and quit poker.

But people 4 betting me with TT in NL1000 seems fun.I never get that before in NL100. Could that be the tip of an iceberg?Btw, why do people transform to such LAGs at higher limits?

lol.

They do everything a little bit better, there's no secret trick, just everything is sharper. They'll put you on ranges better, they'll understand concepts and lines more completely and they'll adjust to you and your tendencies quicker. It's like any sport, sure everyone can pass a football (soccer) but the best control it quicker and see more passes, they have better technique and accuracy to put it where they want it.

You move up to 1000nl and you'll go busto.

Seriously, people at 1knl who 4bet even 5bet hands like 44, do it for a reason. The fact you think you can make money because people play "maniacly" like this, is enough of a reason to stay the **** away from 1knl until you understand why they're doing this.

I say this with best intentions, but like has already been said, if you can happily lose 50k, which is definitely standard at those stakes then you can try it, but when you lose it its going to take a lot of hands at 100nl to make back!

If moving up in NLHE is anything like the moves up in PLO then you're going to be in for such a rude, rude surprise and really need to save yourself money. The jump from 100-400 is bad enough on it's own and ppl at 1knlhe/plo will just have a far greater understanding on the game and pick up on subtle nuances then value own you with them.
