Quite common situation, need second opinion with arguments. live 1-2 NL
UTG (solid player) raise to 7$
Middle ( loose gambler ) position call 7$
I'm calling 7$ on late position with :9s4: :9h4:

FLOP:
:9d4: :jd4: :qh4:

UTG bets 12$
Middle position goes all in for 85$.

Here I'm thinking 85$ is 35% of my stack, middle position could go all in on a draw with two pair easy taking into consideration his stack and his style of play. The question is simply to call or go all in ? Simply call might be tempting for UTG if he has two pair, set or draw. I don't want him to call me on draw so i go all in... UTG has me covered, but its 240$ for him to call.
UTG calls and flips over :10h4: :kc4:
Middle position flips over :jh4: :10d4:

Turn :5s4:
River :8s4:

So could I just call 85$ and fold if UTG go all in on me. Or All in is the right move in such spot ?

That was a tough finish but I think your all in was correct. A call just invites UTG to chase a draw, of which a couple existed on that board. If it weren't for the fact he had actually flopped the nuts...

don't fold sets in this spot. good play, unfortunate result. you still had 7+10 outs despite the nut-flopping utg player, and he could have so many more hands that would simply double you up.

Allin was definitly the right move. You had no way of knowing that this guy had a straight on the flop. If he would have had a Ten with some other not so important card, he would be looking for a straight, and you don't want that. However, I believe you could have played it a bit better. In my opinion, you should have raised with pocket nines in late position. The reason for this is because you get to see what everyone else does first on the flop. If you raise, most players automatically put someone on A K, or some other high cards. If high cards come, you can take a bluff at it, or just check. Most likely no one will bet cause they would be too scared, hence you can catch another card. If low cards come, you can raise and people will think that you'r bluffing it! A win win situation. And well the people who called, youll have an idea of what they have since they called your fair raise.

But your allin was the right thing to do in my opinion. Either way, if someone has a straight caught on the flop, you could always get a full or a poker. You have outs. Btw if you want to read up on some good techniques, you should go too realpokergaming.110mb.com/home.html . This is a really good spot I discovered that helps build ones bankroll in a strategic and orderly fashion. Lots of good reading and tips.

Now well I hope I could help with my opinion. Good play on that hand but just some bad luck. Hope ta see all of you on the table some time.:viking:

I wont fold there.

Maybe against 2 opponent after re-raises but there is so many draws&2 pairs etc.

I gotta agree with what everyone else... stick with the set.
90% of the time they wont hit the straight, let alone off the flop.

I personally wouldn't have folded there. You wouldve taken a hit here.... but the other 90% of the time you would have made them pay for each turn and river and them end up never hitting.

Good luck on and off the felts!!!
