Hi there, i have been playing a lot more cash games this month at 25 NL. I was wondering if some one could tell me : If it is profitable in long run to call a reraise to 3 dollars with a small pair? hoping to hit a set. I tend to do it like 75% of the time and when i do hit, i usually double up. But is it worth it, i don't have a hud, so there is no way i can check it out.

I follow my feeling, do not follow the rules .. reraise not mean that he has a better hand.

Generally you need to be able to win 15x the amount to call to make set mining profitable. With 100bb stacks you can't do that in a 3bet pot. At 200bb it CAN be profitable to set mine in a 3bet pot but ONLY if your opponent is bad enough to get a 200bb stack in with less that a set.

My post was very brief but good elaboration

We have looked at this issue in the polished poker thread. It is a confirmed leak to call 3bets out of position with small pairs looking to set mine. In position it was more of a neutral to small loss proposition. It really depends on your post flop skills and how sticky you are going to be post flop, for example the pressure you want to apply on low runouts when hands like AK will have whiffed.
Personally I have turn cbet% on my hud. If the raiser is going to barrel flop and turn a lot I normally let the hand go preflop. Weak/tight players who don't like to gii without the near nuts will often check the flop or turn and give up and those are the villains you want to play against.

"When I Do Hit" might answer your own question. And I think I will just leave it at that for the first time ever. But I don't think I could add anything better than all the good advice above. GL to you

I think that you should stack them almost always in order to be profitable, but I don't se that happening against most 25NL players. Please correct me if I'm wrong

Thanks for all the info guys, i am going to stop calling reraises with my medium pairs. It should be more profitable for me in long run.

Widest my quide gives is to call in position 77 on BU, I'm qussing this is because lower pairs are in 3bet range of SB and BB.

I would generally recommend to do it 100% of the time in pots that aren't 3 bet, or raised huge. Honestly I don't believe that you USUALLY double up, but if you say so.

Your question needs some context. How loose is the game, how deep are the stacks. If the stacks are very deep, it becomes an implied odds game. You hit a set, you are going to probably stack someone.
