Hey guys.
Been browsing round the forum and loving the place so far

I really am starting to lose my head a little bit at the tables.
I been playing micros and I wait and I wait and I wait for a hand.

Had KK earlier, raised 2 16c.
Was called by one guy.
Flop was K 7 10
Raised, was called.

Turn was J
Loose guy shoved, I called.

He had straight.

It is REALLY frustrating me how donks are shoving or calling anything and getting so lucky.

How long do you guys wait at a table before moving with the blinds slowly eating away?

Thanks

Sometimes along time. Really depends on my hole cards. Unfortunately, donks will be donks but they generally donk themselves out early on. Try to be a little more patient. Watch the players and target who the donks are and either wait for your chance to knock them out or let another player do it. Everyone loves to knock out the donk:D

Thank you for your advice. It is so frustrating in cash games when they get lucky.

Hi Khaos,
It can be really frustrating to feel that you just wait and wait for a solid hand and then it doesn't even hold up.
The tricky thing (and the wonderful thing IMO) about poker is that there are so many more variables than just what hand you have. You definitely need information about your opponents (what type of player they are) and a good understanding about what a "good" hand is based on your position at the table and the types of players around you.

Do you use any kind of software (HEM or PT4) when you are playing?
Do you play a full ring table or 6-max?
Do you play one table at a time or more than one?
How familiar are you with the concepts of player types and table position?

It may seem that these questions aren't resolving the question you asked (how long do you stay at a "bad" table) but the answers really will help us to help you.

Hey mate,
I am using Holdem Manager 2. I have about a 20% VPIP and a 17% PFR
I dont really play hands that are below 10,10 or 9,9 depending on position.
If I am in position are there are 3 loose players at the table who are raise re raise all the time and I have 2,6 or something I just drop it.
I play at 6 max tables and normally play 1 or 2 at a time.
How do you mean player types?

I know the terms, Loose Fish, Aggro Fish, Rock etc.

Thanks

You want this call everytime. You want one caller with a high pair and you could have pushed preflop and especially on the flop with a set.

Yes I do want a caller but for some donk to flop a straight it just bugs me, but I guess you win some lose some eh

Yes, this is what I was talking about. Knowing how loose/tight/passive/aggressive your opponent is helps you narrow down what the best action is. It becomes more than just knowing the terms, it is knowing how to play optimally against these different types.

What helps me get through that frustration is to look at the hand and know that I made the right decision. I've heard several coaches say "so be it" as a response to when you lose to a 2-outer or set over set situation. I keep that in my head: I played very well and made the right moves, but they got lucky. So be it. Most of the times I'm in this situation, I'll be the winner. That's the meaning of not being results oriented. If you make the correct moves, you played a good hand whether you won it or not.

Since you have HEM, you can post some specific hand histories (read the sticky first about how to post the histories) and you'll get some excellent guidance on how to decide what you should be playing, when.

Beats like this can be terribly frustrating, but the way I get over them is when I remember all the times before I knew what I was doing and I would donk out with like 69off and end up getting two pair and cracking someones aces or kings. Poker can be really frustrating at times, but I love the game and regardless of beats or downswings I don't see myself quitting anytime soon.
