Ok i tried rush poker again today for the second and last time. It's already a task trying to read players online in the first place but rush poker makes that impossible. It almost seems like the lottery instead of poker because you get a fast pace game of JACKPOT players.I've read many blogs and posts and 1 thing ive learned is that reading how your opponent plays is as much a part of poker as a good starting hand.My question to the community would be is there any stategic way to play this game?and if so where can i find it?

You can't really get a read on players in Rush poker.
It's almost purely positional.

Yeah, go back to things like starting hands v position chart and use it.

Or just shove all in every hand.

ABC poker with a little positional play. Also the stack sizes often show a direct correlation with how much I want to play a particular person.

I think people tend to play Rush just like they do normal poker only it speeds up the play and your not sitting around out of a hand. I play the same hands in Rush, the only read I think I get is that if you can fold all the bad hands and select good hands that quickly your opponents probably have decient hands a lot of the time.

If you're rolled for it, try one of the rush sng's.. if sngs are your thing. The $4 have 135 people in them, so you're bound to play people numerous times.. You'll be able to put a little information together.

If you wanted to follow a hand until the end, just click on sit out next hand before you fold, which you would have to do manually.. not quick fold.

I have played Rush Poker a few times and i love it. FTP has now use it in one of its $150 FreeRoll Turneys and one of the Omaha as well. As far as reading a player at the table, its very hard. Many people will Raise pre-flop with no hand. Just because they think they can get every one to "quick fold".
Reading for me starts after the flop. I usually only play premo hands or mid hands ( my quality of card will be different from yours).

Although if i have a suited hand or connected behind the button i will limp if i can. Good luck.

i have played appox. 100K hands of rush poker.
once u get use to it you find the play there very soft.
play your big hands fast and hard, use position with unraised pots to your advantage even with mediocre hands.
the more u play rush poker the more you will get use to the style most play.

You really need to say what stakes you played when you write this, otherwise it's entirely irrelevant. I'm pretty sure 5nl rush is super soft. I'm pretty sure 200nl rush is very much not so.

I think it's impossible to get a read on a player because you only play one hand with that player, so you don't really know how they play because you switch tables every hand. Even though you cannot get reads on people, I still like Rush Poker. I do like that you switch tables every hand because u get a chance to play with different people, and not just the same 8 people. I also like that you can fold in the middle of a hand instead of waiting until the end of the hand or waiting until it's your turn. My favorite part about Rush Poker is the quick fold option.

Rush poker is a good variant as its fast and furious. Ive won my biggest pot at .25/.50 with a set of 10's against AQ...all in after the flop but anyway ABC poker is very good here, and stealing blinds when possible to keep you ticking.

What do people think of the rush tournaments. Ive played in alot of $4.40 ones but struggling and busting out, around 20th everytime, but the most annoying this is, im getting my cards in good. So frustrating

Position raises seem to work well if you have a lot of quick folds. Another opportunity is using a small blind raise of about 3 BB when you have quick folds or limps in front of you. A lot of players will quick fold off the SB raise. The SB is the only random blind in this game and it is hard to show a profit if you fold every time in this position. You either get fewer SBs or a lot more SBs in a session, it seldom averages out.

how many reads do you have on your opponents? people talk about reads but I'm pretty sure this is a load of crappers for most.
play ABC poker in position and Vbet. yes, you have less wiggle room than you would if you knew the player better but its not substantial at 5-25nl levels.
if someone 3-bets you in position in 10NL, that's the only read you probably need in order to never play with him again.

I just don't know how to play this format, apparently. I do very, very well at 6-max cash games, but I sit at 6-max Rush and it's terrible.

I did extremely well my first day and then after that I just get steamrolled. People talk about stealing and 3-betting people and being totally positional but it all just seems like total BS because if I don't have the nuts, I'm not winning a hand...everyone is just fold, fold, fold until they have a premium hand, so yeah. I steal a blind here or there but it's quickly lost when people shove all in, or half their stack and you know they have it because...why wouldn't they?

Every session since my first day has followed the same pattern. Unless I'm holding a big pocket pair or I get lucky and flop a monster hand, it's hopless. Any caller at all means I'm facing some monster. It's like someone said above, it feels like a lottery. Or more precisely, a slot machine.

I've lost 2 buy-ins already today to huge coolers. TT, JJ, QQ, all just aren't good enough unless you're lucky and hit a set. Connectors aren't good enough unless you're at a table where no one is sitting on their monster. I just can't find a profitable way to play this format other than waiting on AA or praying to see a cheap flop with a pocket pair and hitting a set. That's the only reason I got lucky and won the first day I played, I hit a few draws against the local, "I got my aces." guy.

It just feels like a terrible format and a rake-producing gimmick.

anyone who says you can't get reads on players in rush poker is either 1) not playing much or (more likely) 2) not paying enough attention/taking enough notes

well i went back and after using some of the tips ,i have to admit i did much better. Now i played in the frreroll and i never made it even close to being ITM but using the tips I made it with in 3 spots of the ITM.I tried the 4 buck game, close but no cookie. For me i found that folding every hand looking for the so called perfect hand is bs .I tried several tactics and folding all the time didnt work for me.Yes i folded quite a few hands but not like before.also playing 1 game and not 3 or 4 at a time helps too. What works for me may not work for you .

Nonsense. HUDs work and taking notes works.

Agree.

Because the game moves so fast you think you don't get any reads, but the tracker/HUD does. After playing 20K hands of LHE, I now have usable reads on many regular players. For me that took about 5 days. I'm playing 6 max LHE and there are only 2 flavors availble, .25/.50 and .50/1.0 and the /50/1.00 game never has any players in it. I have at least 1000 hands on several players just since 5-20-2010. 100's of hands for maybe 30% of the players I see. It is early here, I haven't cracked open PT3 today and these are running estimates of what I believe I see.

With PT3 the HUDS come up very fast, and my only problem is that I'm not seeing what villains see about me because as of the current version, PT3 isn't giving me my hero stats in RUSH ring games, nor tourneys for that matter. I find I have to use the FT provided stats to get any idea what my villains see about me.

I totally like the idea of RUSH poker, although I do agree it is not for everyone. However, some people just love the fact that they are not sitting around waiting for others to finish hands.

In my opinion, the best strategy is to play great hands since reads are less effective. As the tournament gets closer to the bubble, you will begin to see the same players. Therefore, just try to remember the name of any big stacker you win or lose a hefty pot from.
